This is a 1981 Volkswagon Rabbit Pickup. I purchased this truck and had the engine bored .040" over, crankshaft refinished, headjob, new camshaft. I also purchased a new rebuild kit replacing everything. New pistons, rings, bearings, seals, gaskets, water pump, bolts and everything that recieves wear. The engine is complete, however I have not completed putting everything in the engine compartment back together. I have extra parts and 99 % percent of everything needed to finish it. The only thing that I know that I dont have is, new glow plugs, and a new clutch kit. This is a neat little truck and I was not planning on selling it, I wanted to completely rebuild it and use it for a commuter because of its fuel economy, but I totaled my car and need to sell. As far as the body, there is no damage or rust, other than the typical scratches and dings. The interior could use some attention, but there is no cracks in the dash and is not really that bad. I have spent about $3000 on new parts and machine work. Any questions just ask. Thanks Just a few additionals to address some emials. I have added some new pictures, the fiberglass housing for the passenger rear tail light is broken, however I have a left and right replacement set. Also the engine has been completely machined and rebuilt by a machine shop using all NEW parts to include: .040" pistons and rings main bearings, rod bearings, rod bushings, and intermediate shaft bearings complete engine gasket and seals kit to include head gasket and front and rear main seals injector heat sheilds valves and valve seals High flow oil pump head bolt set v belt, timing belt and tensioner pulley water pump thermostat and O rings oil and air filter camshaft the crankshaft was refinished The only thing I havent purchased is a new clutch kit and new glow plugs. I do not want to sell this truck, but my family car was totaled last week and I want to put as much down on a new car as possible. That being said I am not interested in trades. I removed the bumpers and grill and was planning on replacing them, therefore I do not have them. I do have the headlights and some new volkswagon and diesal decals for the truck, just not the grill and bumpers. Also, I do have an original topper that goes with this truck, and as actual Volkswagon dealership service manual with all supplements that has everything you could work on from the body to the powertrain in a step by step sequence. And lastly, this truck was running before the rebuild so everything was working except the emergency brake which needs a new cable. The reason I decided to rebuild this was due to a cracked block so I purchased a used block from a rabbit and had it dipped, cleaned and magnufluxed and inspected for cracks before the bored and decked the block. when they were finished this block looked brand new and was refinished to factory specs, with .040" bore over factory spec.
