Vehicle Detail

1997 DODGE 3500 DRW 4X4 SLT CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL I am re-listing the truck because after the auction ended, I had multiple competing offers and was engaged in what became a pseudo-phone-auction. This seemed unfair to both buyers and seller. I decided that the only fair thing to do was to re-list the truck with a lower reserve and let everyone have a fair shot. Please bid to win. I will not be disclosing my reserve or entertaining any second chance or post auction offers. If it doesn't sell on ebay, I will sell it locally. Just over 100K miles. No rust. Second owner. The truck began its life on a ranch in Texas. I bought it in 2004 and have used it on my farm here in Virginia. This was not my primary vehicle. I only put about 25k on it since 2004. I pulled a trailer with a couple of cows to be processed about once a month and used slip-in refrigerated body in the bed to retrieve the beef and carry it to market. The truck has never given me any trouble and is tight and solid. Mechanically the truck is sound. Just had the truck serviced and replaced both batteries. All six tires are matching and were recently replaced (less than 5K miles on them). The front end is tight and the truck tracks straight and true (in fact my wife always liked driving it because of how it handled). The engine is stock, runs great, and makes plenty of power. It starts easily even on the coldest days (has the block heater if it’s really cold). The automatic transmission works as it should and was recently serviced (fluid changed, bands tightened, and a sensor replaced). Four-wheel-drive works perfectly. Truck has Dana axles, front and rear, limited slip, and 3:54 gears. Has a nice flip-up gooseneck hitch in the bed, and of course also has the factory box hitch. Has a electronic trailer brake controller, and an auxiliary trailer hook up in the side of the bed. The interior of the truck is really clean. It has cloth seats in really good shape, no rips or tears. Truck was ordered carpet delete so has the hard-to-find rubber floor, which is also in good shape. Dash has no cracks. A/C is cold and always has been (not just charged up to sell). All the glass is good. Power windows, locks, mirrors, and cruise control all work. The only thing I know of that does not work is the CD player. It didn’t work when I bought it, and I never missed it, radio works great (factory Infinity system). Also, there is a slow oil leak somewhere high on the engine (seems like a valve cover gasket that likely needs to be replaced), but I haven’t investigated it as it seemed minor. I am guessing that’s why I add one to two quarts of oil between changes (5,000 miles). I’ve always used Rotella-T. Truck does briefly smoke when first started on a cold day (like most diesels), but doesn’t smoke once it’s warm (unless you let it sit and idle for a ten minutes then it will smoke for a few seconds when you accelerate, again like most diesels). I don’t think this is blow-by just burning off unused fuel. The truck is not cosmetically perfect. The paint is pretty oxidized. There are some nicks and dings consistent with the age and use of the truck (see pictures), but there is no rust on the body (except for the two tiny spots of surface rust on the fender where the paint was chipped, see the pictures). The frame still has a lot of the factory paint. Most of the clear coat has flaked off the plastic rear wheel covers, but they are not cracked and looked fine to me. The area around the top of the rear bumper also has been dented. The previous owner bowed the tail gate with a gooseneck hitch, but it still latches. I have tried to be as honest as possible about the truck, but it is sold as is. Please come and see it and take it for a spin. Let your mechanic look it over, whatever you need to do. I think you will find the truck has a lot of life left. I am only selling the truck because I have downsized my cattle operation and no longer need it. Clean Virginia title in hand, no accidents or other non-sense. I would not hesitate for a second to drive this truck anywhere. Please ask if you have questions, I’ll try to answer them (use ebay messages or call me (540-672-7951). I will take cash, bank check, or wire transfer. If you want to fly in I am happy to meet you at the Richmond or Charlottesville airport. Truck will be full of fuel and ready to drive.
