Vehicle Detail
1964 Ford Galaxie 500 2 Door Hard Top Equipped with a 352 4 Barrel Crusiamatic The miles are 39,597 which I am positive this is the correct and original miles Reddish brown with tan interior The winner of this great car will also receive: The original NE sales contract from the original owner. A letter from Ford in Dearborn, MI welcoming the new owner signed by the national service manager, Robert C. Graham. Also the 1964 Registered Owner’s manual Ford Registered Owner Identification Card The car sold brand new for $3,413.30. The original owner traded in a 57 Ford 500 and received $913.30 credit with a balance of $2,500.00, financed by Ford Company. I purchased this from the grandson of the original owner. The car originally came from Auburn, NE, where it was garaged most of its life. When I purchased it, it ran so well that I pulled the motor and transmission, put all new seals in and detailed it out under the hood painting the engine the correct Ford color. At this time I also put all new plugs, wires, points, distributor cap, engine and transmission seals. It has a Carter 4-Barrel carburetor. It is all original It is 95% complete You will also receive a brand new rear bumper. I misplaced the brackets for the bumper, which I am still looking for. If I find them they will go with the 64. I misplaced the right fender ornament, which I am still looking for and it will also go with the 64 if found. The grandson told me he had done some major work on the engine and transmission; it runs and shifts. It was repainted roughly 15 years ago. The paint is above average. The front bumper and grill is very nice. The stainless steel is above average. The interior needs some panels replaced and a headliner. The windshield is cracked. There is some rust by the dimmer switch floor panel, roughly 6” X 8” In the trunk the floor is completely good but in the upper part in the pictures you will see some rust on each side, left and right, also on the seam of the trunk. It has dual exhaust. The grandson did some brake work on it and the brakes should be readjusted and cleaned. It does stop and go. The carburetor needs to be rebuilt, if I have the time before it is sold, I plan on rebuilding it. Otherwise the car is pretty well rust free. All the windows roll down. The lights and blinker work. The radio has some static. There are some extra parts which will come with the 64. This would be a great restoration without a lot of expense and some tender loving care. I was going to completely restore this 64, but I am going to semi-retire and spend more time in Florida so have decided to sell this great vehicle. Who ever purchases this 64 I hope they finish the restoration. My dream was to drive it on Route 66. I do have a friend that does some hauling, he is very reasonable and I can help make arrangements for shipping. In the middle of January he is going to the Texas area, if this car is sold in the OK or TX area, the shipping would be at a reasonable rate.
