Vehicle Detail
I only have room for one snazzy coupe, and think it's time to swap out of the CQ. From 1999-2005 it was a daily driver, from 2005-2009 has been a 2nd/backup and infrequent cruiser. In 2010 I pulled it out of storage and drove it for a couple of months to get the cobwebs out and address some repair items. Original plan was leaning towards a 20v Turbo with Porsche RS2 conversion - until I bought a 400hp Mercedes.... oh well.I have a Green B4 hood and cable + parts for swap, Bentley manuals, and a ton of parts (spares + OEM) to go along with the car - two small crates of parts and documentation, some from old websites and out of print, ETKA Fiche CD-ROM, along with rare dealer training guides/diagrams/electrical - basically all you'd ever need. 1990 Audi Coupe Quattro 20v, Pearl White Ext, Black Leather Int. Service records and all receipts going back over 15+ years to 2nd owner. I purchased in July 1997 at 106k. I'm the 3rd owner. 164+ hp 5-cyl 20v engine, always used Castrol Syntec 3-5k miles, great fuel economy, strong top end power, late 1990 model with cast header, sway bar, all luxury options including heated seats, heat mirrors, washer nozzles, central locking system and alarm. UPGRADES: * TAP Chip * 034 Injectors with bypass kit * Short shift kit * Hella H4 headlight upgrade (major improvement) with relays (done properly) * H&R Progressive springs & Bilstein Struts * Driver's side window regulator replace with MAP upgraded pully regulator * Black Titanium Tinted windows (20%) * Clarion MP3/CD head unit 25wx4, with color adjustable display, upgraded speakers with iPod/Aux input * Incredible interior with Zebrano wood paneling and super clean interior * 16" Quantum Tek Alloys (some corrosion under clearcoat now), but with new tires in 2010 with under 5k miles * Porterfield Carbon Kevlar brake pads R4S Street compound pads * Custom stainless exhaust done at AAA Muffler in Los Angeles, full cat + center resonator, cutom muffler - sounds very unique at full throttle, growly, but not loud * Timing belt & water pump done around 170-180k miles, car has been driven very little since placing in storage in 2005 * Moonroof, door locks, lights (replaced dash bulbs 4 years ago), windows all work, power seats work too * The car runs great, I drove it up to Red Rock ouside Lancaster last summer, it's a GREAT highway cruiser, and very driveable - if I hadn't bought a another car, I'd STILL be happy driving this - it has been ultra reliable over the past 15 years!OLD CAR WARNING/NOT-SO-GREAT STUFF:* AC does not work * Has a front fender dimple (sheet metal), dimple/cracking of plastic bumper cover front a guy who tried to change lanes into me at low speed (20 mph) - easy fixes, rear fender crease is a little more involved, but repairable with some minor surface oxidation * Cruise control doesn't work (vacuum leak?) * Rear diff lock doesn't work (vacuum leak?) * The heated seats probably don't work * Antenna mast on roof needs replacing (If I can source, I will replace, but I cannot guarantee due to my travel schedule) * Has some minor oil leaks, 1 QT per 1000 miles, typical of this vintage * NOTE: I took the front under-grille lip (metal, great shape) and passenger under door rubber strip off the car to clean and replace, but forgot to reinstall for the photos - I have ALL parts, nothing is missing * Like any used vehicle, it's not perfect, and is offered AS-IS, without warrantyFull records of ALL service since I bought are available.RECENT SERVICE:* Front brake pads * Injector seals * New Radiator and Cooling fan * Pentosin flush and new steering/hydraulic hose to address a leak * New Rear diff mount (all other mounts for diff/subframe/trans were done a few years ago)While in California, the car has been serviced at Griffin Motorwerks in Berkeley, 2Bennett in Davis, Ingolstadt West in Canoga Park, Precision Motorsport in Manhattan Beach, and Summit Motors in Venice - all reputable shops. I was one of the original list members at 20v.org - the enthusiast site for these rare Coupes (only approx. 1700 imported to USA for 1990-1991). For collectors/restorers, parts are still available via many performance shops like 034 Motorsports, 2Bennett, and the strong US enthusiast community, as well as from European suppliers (where production numbers for the this B3 chassis were MUCH higher). Common upgrades include retrofit of parts from the later B4 chassis S2 and RS2 models (sometimes engines and transmissions). I have a TON of recent photos my Audi Coupe 20v on Flickr.NOTE: I have very limited availability to show the vehicle, primarily limited to weekends, as I work out of Silicon Valley 70% of the time. If there are no valid offers during the next two weeks while the car is in LA, I may drive the vehicle up to the Bay Area to better facilitate finding a buyer in that area. This car represents a well-tested daily driver, and a decent foundation for buyer who's going to restore/upgrade. These are amazingly solid cars with great handling and unique history.
