Vehicle Detail
Vehicle History I purchased this beautiful, one-of-a-kind 1950 Mercury in October of 2003 on a highly-competitive eBay auction where the winning bid was placed in the final seconds before the auction closed. The seller was a hot rod enthusiast who entered the Merc in auto shows. I, on the other hand, was not a classic-car-guy at the time, but had plans to become one. Those plans changed, however, shortly after I purchased the Merc. I got married and had two kids, and, frankly, had zero time for my Merc. The Merc arrived in perfect condition and immediately took a spot in my garage, but sadly, the car just sat there year after year after year, without being driven more than a few times around the block every 6 months or so to keep things in good working order. I have put less than 5 miles on this car since it was purchased, and the car has been kept in my garage the entire time. The only thing I've really done to the car is wash it on occasion, replace the battery about a month ago and replace the old gas with new gas from time to time. The Merc could probably use another wash, but it still runs as great as the day I bought it and starts up with the touch of a button. The detailed description below (and the mileage listed above) is virtually identical to the vehicle listing for my purchase of this Merc on eBay back in 2003. I have simply replicated the original eBay listing because I do not know anything about cars, and have not independently verified any of the details. I have a copy of the original eBay listing (including the price I actually paid for the Merc), which I would be happy to provide to anyone genuinely interested in bidding on this car upon request. Accordingly, the buyer assumes the risk of any inaccuracy of the details listed below. eBay limits the resolution of the pictures displayed on this listing. I would be glad to send any interested bidder with higher resolution versions of the pictures displayed in this listing via e-mail. I am selling the Merc because my family wants the garage space, and I simply can't justify keeping the car when I don't even drive it or work on it. I have set a low reserve for this Merc, which is over $10,000 less than the price I paid for it because I need the car out of the garage. I will only be listing this car once. A local used car dealer has offered me the reserve price for the car, so if it does not sell over eBay as part of this auction, I will be selling the car to that dealer. Vehicle Description This Merc gets "thumbs up" from everyone, including Goodguys (best under construction in 1999), and the Canadian Nationals (top 10 post '49, 2003). Built to be driven in comfort, this is a great car to enjoy and would be an impressive show Merc with the features now installed. Body and Chassis Top chopped 5", all chrome trim and handles removed. Payment methods accepted: Money order / Cashiers check Wire transferOn Jan-20-12 at 14:18:37 PST, seller added the following information: Update: I continue to receive the same question from multiple people, so I'm updating this listing to clarify. THE RESERVE FOR THIS ITEM HAS ALREADY BEEN MET. The winner of this auction will win this Merc! Thank you for your interest! Good luck!On Jan-23-12 at 09:11:03 PST, seller added the following information: Update #2: I showed the Merc this weekend to interested buyers and noticed that while the radio and CD changer turn on (with everything appearing to function normally), for some reason the radio does not produce sound through the speakers. I am not familiar with the head unit, so it could be something very simple to correct, but I could not figure it out. All of the sound equipment described in above will be included in the car, and everything is nicely wired, but I want people to be aware of this issue. Please take this into account when placing your bids. Good luck!
