1930 American Austin Coupe. This car was owned by the same family from new to 1997. Bought new in New York and brought to Tucson AZ upon the original owners retirement. The car was sold to the next owner in 1997 who sold the car to me in 2009. The car was restored sometime during the original owners possession before 1997 and my intention was to make it a show car which I have never begun. Upon buying the car from good advise from a well respected Austin Bantam restorer, I removed the engine oil pan and cleaned out any old sludge from the pan and reinstalled it. I also purchased a new laser cut carb gasket set and cleaned out the carb and installed a new battery and fresh fuel and oil. It started up and runs very well, although that was done in 2009. When I bought the car, it came with a muffler and tailpipe in a box which I never installed as I planned on restoring the car. Its not a very noisy car without it! I have started the car every few months but have not driven the car since parking it in my climate controlled garage. I would describe this car as a very nice older driver. Not a show car as it has its share of chips and flaws but very little rust. The photos show the areas of rust which consist of minor bubbling on the lower cowl panel and small rust holes on the floor above the rear axle. The interior is very clean and does not appear to have been used much. Chrome is in decent shape as per the photos. The car shows about 37000 miles which seems right for the condition of the car but have no way of proving it. It also comes with a 1978 reproduction owners manual and a stack of old American Austin Bantam club newsletters.The car also has a body number 3977 on a tag on the cowl and has motor number L7891. It is registered in Arizona with the correct 1930 Arizona License plate which is included with the sale. Clear Arizona title, private sale, no Arizona sales tax. Car can be seen anytime in Fountain Hills AZ which is 15 minutes from the Barrett Jackson and other car auctions in January.
