You are bidding on a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. It features a powerful Z-code 390 4V engine which is original, an automatic transmission, and power steering. The car runs and drives great, power steering works, and standard drum brakes still stop the car nicely. The transmission shifts great and does not slip. Both the engine and trans were rebuilt in 2003 and I have all the reciepts. The exhuast is dual flowmasters off of the original exhuast manifolds. It has a nice deep throaty sound to it. Wheels and tires are in good shape with at least 75% tread depth. The car is very mechanically sound and I would take it anywhere. Now for the body, originally came out of Arizona, rust free rock solid undercarriage, the body panels were repainted in 2003 with a urethane paint that has taken some abuse. The exterior was also very solid and required only minor rust repair. The paint has several chips and one large scratch on the hood. There is also some bubbling near the convertible top about the size of a quarter (pictured below). In saying all of that it still looks nice from ten feet and is a great daily driver/cruiser or even a local show kind of car. The trim is original, so yes it has some pitting here and there, front bumper is in good shape, rear has the most pitting of anything on the car but is not rusty and could be re-chromed. The windshield trim is stainless and in good shape along with the grille and rear tail light panel cover. The top is power and goes up and down great. It is also original and showing its age. It doesnt leak but will need replaced. The glass back window is in great shape. The interior has newer carpet and seat covers, door panel were recovered with a smooth material years ago. Arm rests have some cracking in them along with the dash. There is a cover over the dash, but it is not a perfect fit. All of the window crank up and down, door locks lock and unlock, doors shut great and do not sag. Overall this is a nice mostly original car with one re-paint. Great sunday cruiser or summer daily driver. Hop in and go. Bid to buy and drive it home or have it shipped. I can deliver within a resonable distance for a fee or help setup transport.
