Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my classic original 1963 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible. This is an original California black plate car that has spent a majority of its life in the Napa Valley area of Northern California. There is a classic Cal Poly San Luis Obispo sticker on the rear glass window. I can only assume this was used as a college car at some point in the last 48 years. Overall the car is in good shape but it does have rust. The drivers side pan is in need of replacement and the passenger pan is beginning to show wear also. This damage can be shown in the picture included with this listing. There is also rust in the heater channels. The passenger side channel is rusted out. The remainder of the car has misc. surface rust spots but nothing that is all the way through that I can find. The car has had a recent paint job in the original blue color that shows very well with some minor knicks. The interior is in servicable shape but the seats and carpet are worn. The front seats have light nylon covers. The top is all there minus the from bow that is rotted out. The top does not lock very well as a result but will close as shown. I keep the car with the top down and the cover over the top. It is used a sunny day car only. The engine runs very well and has been rebuilt at some point. Based on stamp on the engine I am not sure if this was an remanufactured engine or not. It is running 12V. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The brakes will need adjustment. I have driven the car for 80 miles on the freeway will no issues and no smoke blowing. It is a very smooth running car. The tires are new. Overall this car is a blast to drive and it gets thumbs ups and looks every time it is taken out. It is an excellent base for restoration of a rare beetle. It is very original but will need work to be a daily driver (top mainly). If you are looking for a great summer or beach car this is for you. I just don't have the time or energy to work on this car and restore it to the luster it deserves. It is a great color combo and could be a show stopper. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have on the car and have tried to list all issues that I know of. I can't ship the car but I will try to assist in any way I can to get the car to where you need for shipping.
