Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my beloved 1988 Chevrolet C-1500 Extended Cab Pick-up truck with the rare 8-foot bed! It’s a 2wd model that I would drive anywhere! I’ve had it almost four years, but just updated to a ’97 Ford F-350 Powerstroke with the crew cab (with A/C and power windows). The Chevy was a bit cramped when getting into/out of the back seat with teenagers (I have four kids)! Don’t be overly concerned about the miles; the previous owner had replaced the engine with a new, in-box 350 V-8 from Chevy and a rebuilt transmission. The newer engine and tranny only have 51,000 miles on them! The body is in great shape, although there are signs of surface rust starting in just a couple common locations—I’ve included pictures of those spots. The truck has always been garaged-kept but the northern Ohio winters are known for excess salt, and its effects. This is a sharp-looking pick-up; a real head-turner (formerly a show truck, as the previous owner was interested in showing his Buick Opals and pulled a trailer with this P/U). 1988 was the first year for this body style, and the extended cab with the 8’ bed is highly desirable! The extended cab windows and taillight covers are painted to match. I’ve since invested $1600 in a matching cap with tilt-down slider in front, 2 lights, and screen vents on each side (fishing rod holders/clothes hanger included). I’m keeping the bedrug, but can share that it was plush in the back on long trips (teenage boys liked the room to stretch out)! In addition, I invested in a new tonneau cover that has only been used twice. Either “look” is striking on this truck. For this winter, I just bought four new rims and new tires for the snow (less than 500 miles). I throw 5-6 tubes of sand in the back and it goes anywhere! Oil changes occurred on a regular basis. The regular set of rims/tires are in excellent condition and ready to go in the spring! The check-engine light is sporadic—I’ve had it checked out at our school’s auto tech program with no luck. I just took it to e-check last week (12/29/11) and it passed with no problem—and that e-check is transferable to the new owner within 365 days. (It’s the last e-check needed given the age of the truck.) As I mentioned, the truck runs great; I wouldn’t’ hesitate to drive it anywhere! I pull a 20’ Grady White, but only in/out of the marina where its docked, twice a year. It’s never been smoked in and is a great-looking ride! The former owner added chrome steel inserts on the frame inside the rear wheels so you can't see from one side to the other, given the lift kit. He also added rubber splash guards to the inside wheel wells up front to keep the nasty stuff away from the motor. I’m a high school principal and receive lots of compliments from students--it may sell this week if the offer is right! Probably the best way to present the condition of the truck is with two lists (pros/cons) and with pictures! PROS CONS Excellent condition (former show truck) No A/C 3-inch lift kit No power windows Front/Rear Sway bars Surface rust starting (less than 5 spots) Rear assist suspension Clear coat peeling on hood On-board compressor w/ gauge in cab Lower fog lights not operational Heavy duty brakes Volume on stereo works sporadically Rear hitch with chrome housing Only one dent: in the passenger side tube step Newer carpeting Check-engine light comes on now and then Custom front bucket seats Middle front seat folds down/cooler underneath Rear sliding window CD/FM/AM stereo w/ weather band Tinted windows Roof console with sun visor shelf 32 gallon gas tank Steel Cowl Induction hood Stainless steel panels hide rear lift access Tube side steps Newer exhaust Front wheel wells have rubber guards to cut spray Newer battery Custom front grill and air dam Hercules roll on bed liner Set of 4 chrome rims w/ 60K Uniroyal Laredo’s Extra set of rims/wheels for winter Exact matched truck cap with upgrades! Brand new tonneau cover New radiator in 2008 New plugs, distributor cap, rotor Fresh coat of wax 4 weeks ago The truck is sold “as-is” but I’ve done my best to describe/depict this great looking Chevy! With only 51K miles on the engine/transmission, she has many years left in her! I have most of the documentation for all repairs/improvements/maintenance/service. As you can see by my 100% positive feedback, there are no issues on this end. I reserve the right to remove the action at any time, as the truck is for sale locally as well. I’m located between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, within close proximity of Rt. 8, I-77, The Ohio Turnpike, I-271 and I-71. A $500 deposit via PayPal is expected within 48 hours from the end of the auction. Serious bidders only—do NOT bid if you have zero feedback! Thank you for looking at my Chevy P/U—it’s been well-cared for and I’m hoping that it goes to a like-minded buyer! Good luck bidding and email if you have any questions!
