Vehicle Detail

I am relisting this car. The last bidder was close to the reserve, which I have now dropped to that offer. This is a 1941 Chevrolet master deluxe 2-door sedan. Please bear with the long text, but I want to be as thorough as possible. I am only the 3rd owner of this car. I bought the car in 2002. The owner before me bought it in 1980 from the original owner. The car was from Salt Lake City, Utah until I purchased it. I am in a dry southern climate which will explain the exceptional condition of the sheet metal on this car. The car was housed in a museum by the previous owner and only taken out a few times to be used in big budget movies in the area. I have seen it in "This Boy's Life" with Robert Deniro, so the story bears truth, since the movie was filmed in Salt Lake City. I bought it as a Sunday driver and I drove it maybe 10 miles a month or so. The rest of the time the car just sat covered in the garage.I have only put about 750 miles on it in 10 years. I am not a mechanic but can do simple maintenance, so I changed the oil twice a year regardless of driving or not. Drained radiator and changed gearbox oil yearly and kept the battery charged. I believe the mileage to be true due to such little use in 31+ years, but I was looking in a box in the trunk just recently, and found a window tag from a car show in 1979 that said 41 chevy 67,000 original miles. I have been told that even the paint is original by several old car guys, but if it isn't any repaint is older than 1959, because there is an Esso oil change sticker still in the jam dated November 1959 and a mileage of 57,000. The only things which have been redone are the interior seats, door panels, headliner, carpet in rear. The bumpers were re-cromed sometime ago. and the gas tank and exhaust were all done by last owner. The rest of the car is completly original. Body: Absolutely no dents, rot, or repair ever to any body panels. Not one molecule of bondo on this car. The undercarriage is unblemished and original, only mild surface rust . The frame rails are solid as are quarters, rockers, floor pans, trunk pan, inner fender wells, spare well, trunk etc. No rust or rot EVER Trim: All the trim is original and in good shape with minimal pitting and dings here and there. I'd say 8/10 for the trim and 9.9/10 for the bumpers which are shiny with no defects or rust. Interior: Very good. The seats and headliner are excellent with only slight staining to the headliner. The door panels are excellent. The dash and trim is original and in good shape. All guages work properly. The clock doesn't. The vacuum wipers work. The remote hood unclock knob did break. All window cranks and door handles work fine. Glass: all the glass is original. Has old stamp and numbers on them. There is a tiny amount of bubbling in some. The drivers window is cracked but original and works fine. Paint: The paint has that old laquer shine, again was told it was original. A ten-footer would be honest description. There are a few small areas where primer is just showing. There are minor chips in a few areas. There are some crows feet looking areas and some hazing but must be closer than a foot to see. I would say old servicable paint to be honest, but still shines and has incredible reflection. Tires: Bias ply white walls all with very good tread. Original spare and rim in trunk. Engine: 216cid. The engine bay has never been touched. All components, carb, generator, radiator, etc, are original to car.Still has old cloth wrapped wiring here and there. It starts fine and has been reliable, but does ride like an old car, remember its 71 years old. Has squeaks due to old deteriorating weatherstripping. The steering is a bit vague, but there is no front end pops or noise when turning, so this is probably and old steering box issue. The vacuum shift works perfectly and is very tight. Tranny shifts perfect. Car does not burn a drop of oil. It goes a bit slow, always did. I was told this may be due to the vacuum advance on the distributor may be the problem. It was timed and idles very slow and quiet with no exhaust leaks. The brakes work, but should be bled. I did it last year and they were fine, but a bit soft now since I had not driven the car in a while. Just put in a new battery and it starts every time. From the look of the patina under the hood, it doesn't look like the engine has ever been touched or torn apart. Again, this is an old survivor car which is completly original in every way. I have tried to be honest in every aspect and welcome a call or inspection. I also have a clear title to this car. The custom cover comes with the car. Serious interest, please call 501-944-8387 leave message. Shipping is buyers responsibility, but I will assist in loading onto transport and be available as best as possible for this.
