For sale, 1988 suzuki sidekick. This project started out with a 1988 sidekick with 62000 miles on it. I already had an almost new { had 42 hours on it} 68 Hp isuzu 4 cylinder industrial diesel engine. { model 4BT } I thought wow this would make a nice project. After doing some rough measurements i decided to do the swap. Then i thought it would be handy to also turn it into a truck. The entire suzuki was torn down to the bare frame, all of the suspension was cut off and lowered 8" to give enough room for the new engine. I then built a custom machined aluminum transmission adapter and custom flywheel, this mated the stock tranny and engine perfectly using a new stock clutch and pressureplate. I then built custom engine and tranny mounts using rubber engine mounts. Both driveshafts had to be built from scratch. The entire drive train has new seals and is dry. Some of the other custom stuff includes, isuzu 70 amp alternator with built on vacum pump for the brakes, custom thermostat hosing, custom powersteering mount, custom shifters, custom seats and slides, custom polished stainless steel rollbar and light mount, custom door pannels, custom bed-liner, taillights, steering wheel, coilover front struts. Almost everything on this vehicle is custom built. The good= the vehicle is 90% complete, runs , drives, can be licensed, has heat, seatbelts, has one of the most relible engines in the world etc. It is four wheel drive, it all works, it drives good, the engine has less than 100 hours on it. The wheels and tires on it now are 7" rims with 28" tall tires, It would clear 33 inch wheels and tires, you could also add a lift kit or body lift to it for larger tires. The bad= the paint and body are fair, has no bumpers on it, with the small wheels and tires on it it will only run about 60 mph, it has plenty of room for larger wheels and tires. It has loads of torque for offroading and climbing, you will not win any drag races with it. This a one of a kind suzuki that is alot of fun to get around in, i have been told that it can be licenesed as an alternative fuel vehicle with a tax credit. This is an all manual engine and could burn any type of oil to run on, greasal, bio fuel etc. I have had alot of lookers ask about trades, i would consider a trade for a Nice medium size skid-steer loader, a 4x4 tractor with loader on it in the 30 to 50 hp range only. No motorcycles, fourwheelers, cars , trucks, boats, farm animals, etc.
