Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook 4-door. Straight six with a 3-speed manual on the coloumn. 3 on the tree…I guess. The car is a real “survivor”. Mostly original. It doesn`t look like it has been restored before - other than the exterior paint, which is not a high quality job, but looks presentable. And somebody tried to tackle the underside of the rockers – again, not professionally. The underside of the car is mostly rust colored, it`s only surface rust and the frame, the floors and the body is solid in general with the exception of a couple of spots: 1) there is a small hole in the left front corner by the driver`s foot well, 2) the trunk floor has two areas (one on each side) where it rusted thru by the rear body bushings, these are shown on the pictures, 3)and the rockers. The bumpers look like new, but some of the other chrome trim have been painted silver and show pitting under the paint. Some of the glass have foggyness by the edges. The tires and rims are like new, the brakes pulse a little, but work fine. The gauges work but the fuel level gauge doesn`t seem very consistant, prolly a rusty ground connection somehwere. Overall the car drives very well and everything works on it, except the horn and the radio. I drove it to a couple of local gatherings in the summer and had no problems with it whatsoever. As far as the history of the car goes, don`t ask me, I don`t know anything about it, I bought it this summer to toy with it. I restored a couple of bikes and cars when I was younger and wanted to get into it again. I thought I could find the time for it. I thought wrong. So far I have`t been able to do anything on it, and it looks like I`m not gonna have an indoor space to keep it in for the winter. It sounds more sensible if I find a new home for it. All-in-all, it`s a nice old-timer that you can work on, but is in good enough shape to take it out for a Sunday-drive and show off with it. I picked up a couple of pices of literature for it at the swap meet. They also go with the car. I tried to take many pictures to show the car as accurately as possible. If you have any questions, don`t hesitate to ask and if you want to check it out in person, you can call me at 718 813-3335 to set up a time. The car is located in Lititz, PA 17543.
