Vehicle Detail

This bike was the subject of a comprehensive professional nut-and-bolt restoration by master technician Darrell Faulkenberry at Second Wind BMW in Merrimack, NH. It carries a clean TX title and current registration. It was featured in Café Racer Magazine (June/July 2010, Issue #9) and currently shows 39705 miles on the odo (it had 37519 when I purchased it). Bike is fully serviced, detailed, and ready to enjoy. Essentially, Darrell stripped this bike to the bare frame and renewed, refurbished or replaced every single part to create a unique but fully rideable R100 that could be enjoyed on modern roads, maintained by anyone familiar with BMW airheads, and shown with pride at any bike show. I think he exceeded his goal and I’ve enjoyed being the caretaker of this fine bike. It has been stored in my climate controlled shop and ridden only on sunny Sundays. It has never been wet, tipped over, or damaged in any way since the restoration. Some of the highlights: Frame, swing arm and associated parts powder coated and assembled with new bearings and seals. Wiring harness cleaned and repaired as necessary. All electrical components checked and/or replaced. New handlebar controls with Euro light switch function. New OEM tail lamp and turn signal assemblies. New chrome headlamp rim and correct Bosch headlamp. Instrument cluster fully rebuilt with new OEM housings, circuit board, bulbs, etc. Speedo/Odo rebuilt by Palo Alto Speedometer – original mileage preserved. OEM BMW charging port discretely added to simplify battery upkeep. Frame/suspension mods include period correct aftermarket frame bracing and front fork brace. Progressive springs up front with billet top clamp. Rear suspension upgraded to fully adjustable Ohlins piggyback units. All hand and foot controls new or rebuilt. All new control cables. Wheels are original snowflakes, media blasted and silver powdercoated. Rebuilt brakes, including Ferodo front pads and Spiegler stainless brake lines. Original final drive unit fully rebuilt by a specialist shop in Oregon. New Metzeler tires. Engine fully disassembled and inspected, with all items showing wear replaced with OEM parts. Rebuilt gearbox done to the same level. Rebuilt heads with new OEM valve covers. OEM exhaust headers, crossovers, and clamps, with MAC mufflers. Fully rebuilt Bing carbs. Pulse air system removed and properly bypassed – bike starts and runs like it should. NEW OEM fuel tank and fuel cap with rebuilt petcocks. Professional paint done by local shop to a very high standard. Beautiful bright red matches Triumph Tornado Red as well as Audi Brilliant Red. New custom sport saddle from Siebenrock Bayer in Germany. Napoleon bar end mirrors. All new badges and I added OEM red “1000cc” decals on side covers as seen on earlier airheads. All receipts available, as well as full toolkit, owner’s manual, NOS metal body frame mounted tire pump and BMW shop towel. All keys, including folding ignition key. I know I’ve forgotten many items but these are the highlights. I’m happy to answer specific questions and take any detail photos you may require. Well over $10K invested. I'd prefer this bike go to someone who knows what it represents, and who will ride it and enjoy it as Darrell intended. I can’t crate, but I’m able to assist with shipping – Keyboard Transport brought it to me and they did a fantastic job. Here is the link to the Shutterfly photo album showing many before-and-after photos. At one point the bike was to have laced wheels but these were changed back to snowflakes in order to preserve the later Brembo dual disk brakes: http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/welcome.sfly?fid=ad62537bb6d3057c6276141d224b0f78&sid=1QbsmTdm2aOIA $500 deposit via PayPal due within 48 hours of auction close with balance to be paid via wire transfer or certified bank check. Title will be released when funds clear my bank. I can store the bike in my shop for 30 days if necessary. Thanks for looking.
