Vehicle Detail

Here it is for all you NOVA and CHEVY II or CHEVY 2 lovers! When is the last time that you have seen a 1965 Nova SS Coupe with the original interior in tact, the original engine, and a NO HIT/NO RUST body? The original paint is code # N-N for Medeira Maroon with code # 712 for Black Vinyl Bucket Seats. This is a true SS Super Sport Nova as stated on the trim tag code # 65-11837. This little Chevy 2 is optioned with the original code # W for Tinted Windshield, code # P for AM Push Button Radio, code # R for Rear Speaker, code # C for Padded Dash, code # W for Passenger Rear View Mirror (missing), and code # L for Factory Front Seat Belts. The only modifications that have been applied to this tight little car are the following: The transmission conversion from the factory 3 speed to a Saginaw 4 on the floor, and the obvious 2 tone paint job. Besides these changes, this little car has all it’s original parts and trim (the missing few parts are the outside rear view mirror/s, the driver side rear quarter “Nova SS” badge, the original gas cap, and the right rear wheel well “eye brow” trim) This rare little Nova was found in the San Francisco Bay Area, it has been in California its entire life and was last owned by an adult couple who purchased the car in 1968 in San Jose California. I also have the original “BILL OF SALE” from 1968 when this last owner purchased this Nova. This car is still currently in California, just outside of San Jose. This car still is titled in its 1968 California “Pink Slip” with its California Black and Yellow plates. Additionally, the car has a current “non op” for the state of California to reduce any “California” fees for past registration costs. This car runs strong; you can see by the pictures, the engine has been painted incorrectly a Chevy “Blue” when the original engine was rebuilt by “Automotive Engineering” years ago. As mentioned, the transmission has been switched from the “3 on the tree” to a “4 on the Floor”. This transmission and linkage looks to be from a Vega or Monza from the 1970’s or early 1980’s. It shifts well and the clutch it good a strong, but the transmission whines in 1st 2nd and 3rd (it’s quite in 4th) showing signs of a worn front main bearing. (you may want to rebuild this transmission or replace it with an original 3 speed or better yet a Muncie, remember, what’s in there now is a Saginaw from a Vega, “go figure”) The original, (hard to find Nova 283 V8), is still in the car with the pad stamp of F0204PD showing that this is a Feb 4th built engine for a 1965 Nova 283 V8 2 barrel carb with 3 speed standard transmission. (the trim tag code of 02A shows that this car was built in the 1st week of Feb. 1965 proving that this engine was born with this car!) Please look at the pictures of the interior of this great little time capsule. Besides the sun dried portion of the upper back seat (very easy repair as only the upper top section of the seat needs to be replaced, and a small seam split on the driver front seat (also an easy fix with sewing the seam, the interior of this car is amazing. (you should look and feel the dash pad…it’s perfect!) Almost everything mechanical as well as electrically works as it should. The Radio works, as does the turn signals, brake lights, head lights, high beams, horn, heater blower, interior light, cigarette lighter etc. (I have noticed that the gas gage seems to be intermittent, and the back up lights are not hooked up to this transmission as well as the speedometer is not functioning, but to be honest, I have not checked to see if the cable is even connected to the transmission) As mentioned the engine runs strong and starts right up with a smooth idle (the fuel pump is new, and the carburetor is rebuilt) , the brakes are very tight (the master cylinder is new) , and the suspension seems to be very tight as well. The tires are like NEW (no dry rot or cracks very cleans and pliable) bias ply white walls, and like all bias ply tires they tend to move with the groves in the road. Currently it has two tone paint, (Butternut Yellow and Maroon). The paint job is an average type job and I was told it was painted some time in the 1980’s, however it is still shinny with very few scratches. I am sure this car could be re-painted without having to strip this car to bare metal. I have found no body filler anywhere obvious on this car. The fenders, hood, trunk, doors, rear quarters, floor pans, trunk, chassis, suspension parts are all incredible. NO RUST AT ALL! You will be hard pressed to find a more solid 65 Nova SS than this one. Please call Todd @ 303-886-0422 with any questions you may have, I have more pictures if needed. Thank you for your interest in this great little muscle car. Chevy2 ChevyII Super Sport
