Up for auction from StudebakerCentral is a 1954 Commander. This car is a good restorable example of one of Studebaker's greats. The frame is completely solid. The floor and trunk pans are rusting but not gone. Look at the pictures. This Commander came out of an estate and was dismantled when we got it. Although I would love to put it together, we have too many other Studebakers waiting for attention. The car is a 232 V-8 with a three speed and overdrive. According to its build sheet it was ordered with tinted glass and a 4.27 rear axle. I have a proper complete 232 but it is not the engine that came in the car and it needs to be rebuilt. I've gone through all the parts and would say that 85% of the car is there; grilles, lights, all dash components, wireing, drive shaft, all there. The tranny that came with it is shot. The front and rear suspension look good. The steering looks tight. The windshield is cracked but I will supply a replacement. The rest of the glass is good. The front seat is missing as are the interior door panels and headliner. Good project; a valuable car that needs a complete restoration. One of the rear light surrounds is broken. The car itself is very solid as you can see in the extra pictures. I am having a hard time finding the front glass that I was certain I had so if that makes anyone rethink, I understand. Bid accordingly. The car is at reserve so you can see we are talking about a very reasonably priced project with large potential.
