Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1938 Two Door Chevy Sedan Street Rod. The body is all steel fitted on a sectioned, shortened and lowered 1989 two (2) wheel drive S-10 frame. There is new tinted glass in the car front, back and both sides. Tilt wheel steering column, master cylinder and instrument panel out of a 1981 Chevy Caprice. There is no grill or running boards for the body but there are two (2) sets of steel back fenders and one (1) set of steel front fenders. Work has progressed with the body being sized up and test fitted on and off the frame a few times already. As a result, the motor mount location was moved back towards the firewall of the body for a better fit and better weight distribution. While the body was off the frame last time the frame was entirely clean and freshly painted black before both were mocked up back together again. The chassis has new front coil springs, new drop (lowered) spindles, new shocks, new brake pads, new rotors, new calipers, new wheel bearings and new seals. The rear is a lowered (dropped) S-10, ten (10) bolts with new leaf springs, new shocks, new brake drums and new axel seals. Moving ahead the inter rear wheel wells might need to be moved (tubbed) inward towards the passenger compartment a few inches because the body is too wide to fit over the current American Racing rear wheels and P235/60R14 tire combination. If you don't want to tub the wheel wells I'm also offering a wider 1970 to 1981 - 2nd gen. Camaro 8-1/2 inch, ten (10) bolt rear with the sale that will eliminate the need to alter the wheels wells. Or you can simply change the tire or wheel combination currently on the car. The body is at this time bolted to the frame on 1 inch spacers. Remove the spacers and it gives the appearance the body is channeled. If the spacers are removed the transmission tunnel will need to be altered slightly taller in one section a few inches to provide enough body clearance. The body is straight and it is pretty much complete as pictured but in need of repairs. There are fitted steel patch panels and fiberglass replacement parts available for the body from a few different suppliers. A 16 gallon fuel cell for a gas tank is also included with the sale. The engine is a mid 90's Chevy Performance 350 crate engine that came out of a truck with less than thirty five thousand (35,000) miles. The engine has an aluminum Edelbrock Performer Intake manifold, Headman Headers, HEI Distributor, East Coast Auto Electric High Torq Starter and an East Coast Auto Electric Super Mini 120 Amp Alternator. The transmission is a TH2004r with overdrive the same transmissions used in turbo charged Buick Grand Nationals and they perform well in cars running high amounts of boost making monster horsepower. The body and frame are being sold together with an original, free and clear 1938 Chevy Sedan Title. A good solid foundation has been fabricated to build on and the labor has progressed that most of the drive train and chassis details have been worked out towards making this a dependable, nice drivable car when finished. Moving forward this is an assemblage in progress. The buyer assumes completion with the option of finishing it in whichever direction they see fit. The possibilities are pretty much limitless. If you have less than 10 positive feed backs please contact the seller before bidding. This car is offered for sale with no reserve. See shipping and payment details for terms and conditions of this sale. Bid with confidents this is an honest and accurate description. Inspections welcome or any questions before bidding please ask. There is no warranty expressed or implied and you are buying as is where is. The car is a roller but currently not drivable. The driveshaft has been removed and there are no brake lines run to the wheels. The car will have to be picked up on a flatbed or trailer. Shipping charges are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Thanks for looking and happy motoring.
