Vehicle Detail

Offered with no minimum and no reserve is my 1967 Series IIA Land Rover Station Wagon. This vehicle is a daily driver. It starts reliably, runs smoothly, and offers reliable transportation. Although the aluminum body has plenty of dents and imperfections, the vehicle is unique, because of its originality. Most of the paint is original!!!! Additionally, since the vechcle has been in the western part of the United States (see 1978 window sticker from Steamboat Springs, CO and dealer sticker from Reno Nevada), it has very little rust. The rust that is apparent is on both sides of the rear crossmember. I am told this can be patched by welding, or a new rear crossmember is available from Rovers North for around $300. The interior is reasonably clean. The headliner has been neatly removed. All of the guages work, but the speedometer is off (too high) by about 10 mph...maybe more as you go faster (I've had the speedometer buried & this vehicle does not have overdrive). The turn-signals work, as do all of the lights (except a brake light on one side...easily fixed by a bulb replacement I think). Recent work includes a new battery and a new clutch master cylinder. A replacement clutch slave cylinder is also included (purchased with the master cylinder, but doesn't seem to need it, so it is in the box). Although the heater blows, it doesn't seem to get hot. Windshield wipers are functional. The wheels are the original 15" Rover wheels, which are not often seen, as they have been unavailable for some time. The tires have plenty of tread and are studded. Since they are a little cracked with age, new tubes have been installed. I purchased the vehicle with the idea of restoring it. However, I have chosen not to restore because I have received so many positive comments about the car's originality...as they say, "it's only original once". Additionally, the bumps and bruises in the body add a delightful authenticity to a car that when used as intended routinely probably does get rammed by an occasional rhinocerous, bumped by a cape buffalo or driven through a ravine on safari. This one definitely looks like it has been there & done that...but not in a bad way (my opinion)...in a way that, instead, exudes character. So, if you are looking for a flawless original, this is not your car. If you want a dent-free, shiny paint, beautifully restored Land Rover, move on. But if you want a Rover with original paint, limited rust & lots of carisma & a vehicle that can be relied on for transportation, this Rover may be your car.On Nov-27-11 at 17:33:56 PST, seller added the following information: The odometer reads 65,xxx. I believe that the miles are actual, although I have no way of proving it. Recent work also includes an oil change, filter & a check of belts, hoses and fluids. I have a clear Colorado title in my name.On Nov-27-11 at 17:39:47 PST, seller added the following information: The Rover is located in Telluride, CO. This is in the south-western portion of Colorado. On Nov-28-11 at 08:17:48 PST, seller added the following information: Mounted on the front of the Land Rover is a working 8,000-pound Warn winch, complete with remote control.
