This is a 1987 Toyota Corolla, model FX-16. The car has low usage. The engine and drive train are all original. The body is straight. The car has no known accidents on its record/car fax. The body has some light surface rust on the exterior with two small holes in the trunk and two under the rear seat. The rest of the car is solid. Known problems at this time: the car's Idle Air Control Valve is on the way out. Sometimes the engine seems to not have full use of power and other times the car is very peppy and responsive. The part sits on the top of the engine and other than the $100.00 dollar part, it is fairly straight forward on the change out. The other issue is the prior owner hooked up a red night light in the dash console. I am getting some voltage drop from some other systems such as the windshield wipers and the car stereo. I also think that the problem might have been compounded when the prior owner may have tried to decipher what was wrongly wired to begin with. If the car does not get grabbed up I will address this at a local dealership as Toyota Service should be able to get to the problem quickly. The front brake pads are due for a changing and the e-brake cable is not hooked up at the handle end. And lastly, the clutch slave seal has a common seal leak which is common on the older cars so you have to watch the level until replaced. The good, the car was in long term cold storage up untill last fall. The car does not have any of the problems of a high mileage car. All of the interior is in excellent condition. No burns, rips, scratches, holes, punctures, stains or other issues with the interior seating/dash part of the car. All doors shut straight and may even be a little stiff from lack of use. The car starts right up. Shifts good. Stops fine. All the parking/directional and head lights/brake lights are all strong and bright. The prior owner drove this car exactly the way it is right now for a year after it came out of the barn/cold storage. Other than the e-brake cable and poor gas milage due to the Idle Control Valve, this car could keep right on going as it is or you could pay someone for the labor to replace the needed parts which number 3 (Idle Air Control Valve, E-brake Cable. Front brake pads.) at this time. All cars need to be maintained and this one is no different. It should be noted that this car did recently pass the State of Maine inspection and has a current certificate to prove it. The exhaust is tight and quiet, the brakes are good and the car is very snappy and responsive. This car reminds me a lot of the mid to late 80's Volkswagen Scirocco's. If you are truly interested in a 36mpg runner that is not a rust bucket and which is also from the prime time 80's, and if you desire a car that is not hacked apart but original in need of some restoration to make it mint, go ahead and bid. I am willing to work with anyone who desires the same back. I understand the issues of living in one region of the country and trying to bring a purchase home safely and affordably. Delivery may be possible. As long as we keep open the lines of communication all should go well. Ten day (10) auction format.
