up for auction and for sale locally. 1997 540i - v8, automatic. Dual power seats, front and rear side air bags, telescoping steering wheel, power sunroof, alarm, Alpine cd player, etc.. fully loaded. The car drove and rode like new with no squeeks or rattles and performed great. The car has 145,000 miles on it ,but has a great exterior with just a couple of tiny door dings that can't be seen 10 ft. away. The paint and body are in excellent shape.The interior shows near to none wear and is a rich black leather, the carpet is in great shape with no wear spots. I recently purchased this car from a dealer friend of mine. He told me the transmission sometimes would go into "failsafe mode" If you took off fast, but slow it would work fine. I have been working on BMWs, Jags, Mercedes, etc.. for years so i felt comfortable buying this car knowing the trans, condition. After changing the highdollar fluid and filter on the trans, it has no forward gears . I thought that a fluid/filter change would fix it ,but i was wrong. It will attempt to go forward put pops out of gear. Iwould like to keep and repair myself but i don't have the time, place nor the tools to do it. I have found several transmissions that would fit anywhere from $400.00 - $1000.00 depending on the mileage. This is really a very nice car with little to no wear. It looks alot newer that some of the later models we looked at when we were hunting for a bmw.
