2003 Saturn Vue AWD – black exterior, gray cloth interior 104,761 miles FEATURES · Automatic transmission · Power steering · Power brakes · Power windows · Power locks (remote included) · Power mirrors · Air conditioning · Cruise control · Factory CD player · Airbags, driver and passenger · Tilt steering VISUAL FLAWS · Some scratches along sides of doors and on hood. · Exterior scratches on paint along both sides and on hood. · Stains on upholstery and in rear cargo area · Driver side mirror has crack, (still functional) · No rust except small quarter sized spot near rear license plate MECHANICAL NOTES (THE GOOD) I had the engine replaced in May, 2011 (VUE had 100,579 miles at the time). The engine is a Jasper remanufactured engine and was installed by a local repair shop. There is a transferable 3 year or 100,000 mile parts and labor warranty on this motor. We have only put on 4,000 miles since it was installed. It has had two oil changes since the Jasper engine was installed and has been well cared for. This motor is in excellent condition and runs great! This is the 4 cylinder engine and I have been getting 24 mpg highway MECHANICAL NOTES (THE BAD) The transmission is making a very loud grinding sound that is prevalent particularly when first driving after having sat for a while (cold). My mechanic has looked it over and indicated the noise is from the transmission and that he recommends it is replaced. He also noted the transmission oil is black. I had the tranny flushed at the time of the Jasper install. A replacement transmission is tough to find and expensive to replace. PLEASE BID KNOWING THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACEMENT There is severe “play” in the steering. My mechanic noted that the VUE also needs a new steering rack. He suggested this truck is not to be driven any longer as the steering is unsafe in its current condition. The VUE will not pass NYS inspection without the repairs needed as described above. PLEASE BID KNOWING THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDS REPLACEMENT Muffler has visual corrosion, but sounds fine. May need replacement sooner than later. It’s not inspected and is unsafe to drive. Will need to be towed. Although it does start, currently run and drive; this truck is no longer on the road. Do not expect to test drive this truck. It is not inspected, no longer insured or registered. Ready to be towed! PLEASE BID KNOWING THAT THIS TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IN CURRENT CONDITION AND NEEDS A TRANSMISSION AND STEERING RACK REPLACEMENT Lastly, there is an auto-car starter system installed. Was put in back in 2004. I no longer have the remotes and couldn’t tell you if it still works or not. Assume that it does nto work, but that it is there in case that is something you can fix. COMMENTS I am the second owner of this vehicle and bought it in 2004 with around 24,000 miles on it. It has been a great truck. The AWD is perfect for winter snow driving. It’s very roomy inside and gets really good gas mileage for an SUV. I’ve just spent nearly $6000 having the motor replaced and I have no more money to get this truck to a safe driving condition. My mechanic estimates it will be another $5000 - $6000 to replace the transmission and fix the steering. My usage for this truck is very light and it doesn’t make sense for me to spend any more money on it. I will use what I get selling this truck to find another car to hop around town in. If you are willing to drop the money into this truck to get it in safe running condition, or know how to fix these on your own, this is a great vehicle to own.
