Vehicle Detail
Car History: I really don't have much of the car history, but this is what I do know. The car was bought by a friend in Dallas, TX at a CoParts dealer auction. It had been wrecked and paid off by the previous owner's insurance company. Het bought it to fix it for his wife. He started the repairs. While this was going on, he and his wife split up. He sold the car to another mutual friend, who did nothing with it for the past year or so. He knows that I am a Corvette guy so he told me about the car. I did not want the car to sit anymore so I made him an offer. He agreed to my bid and I went and picked the car up a few weeks ago. I really don't have time for another project, os I thought I might see if anyone else is looking for one. I am spending all my time on my 72 Big block, my 82 crossfire, and my 73 coupe. Upon inspection, I found the following: The block matches the VIN The transmission is original The differential is original The intake is by Edelbrock (Performer) The carb is by Holley (Street Avenger) The valve covers and air cleaner are chrome and not original parts The alternator looks to have been replaced at some time The distributor is a GM HEI unit with the tach drive The exhaust manifolds are original The ignition shielding is mostly gone The oil looks clean The water pump looks clean The motor looks to have been rebuilt or repainted There is spark and the carb looks to be almost new (back in 2002) with little use (The Street Avenger sticker is still on the electric choke) The wiper door hinge on the driver's side is broken, but the part is there There are 2 replacement headlight assemblies and one of the original ones The headlight relays are broken The vacuum canister is fine The radiator core support is new The front bumper support is new The front bumper brackets are new The front bumper is new The passenger side grille is broken The center grille is broken The parking light lenses are missing The passenger side marker is missing The nose is an Ecklers one-piece replacement nose The inner fenders are by Ecklers Some of the small brackets are missing The front control bushings and ball joints were replaced during the repairs The side grilles, emblems, and letters are all there The windshield trim is there The weatherstripping looks new The doors fit great and are solid The car has power windows The car has power steering The car has power brakes The car does not have A/C The car does not have tilt/tele wheel There is no play in the steering wheel or steering box The seats have been recovered The carpet has been replaced The dash and console are in great shape The rear compartments are in great shape The convertible top is in great shape, except the rear window is starting to un-glue The car has been repainted, but is an original LeMans Blue with Black vinyl interior car The rear quarter on the passenger side has some light damage and the repair is poorly done The rear bumpers are there and appear to be NOS The rear exhaust bezels and license plate frame are there but are pitted. The factory exhaust tips are missing There is no rust on the frame, suspension, or birdcage The trailing arms and differential are solid with no play The exhaust system looks to be solid The brake calipers are holding fluid with no signs of leaks The rotors look good with no rust The wheels turn freely and the bearings have no play The wheels are not original The tires are dry rotted and I would not trust to drive on them very far or fast There is no other body damage that I can find on the car from previous accidents I started the car last weekend. I replaced the plugs, pumped up the oil pressure, and filled the carb bowl with gas. It fired on the first rotation of the starter and idled perfectly. I checked the compression and the readings are in one of the pictures. The motor revs up nicely. The secondaries are vacuum and I have not put enough load on the motor to get them to open. I opened them manually, and the motor responded beautifully. I added a quart of transmission fluid, and the car shifts perfectly. The suspension is solid and the drive line has no clunks or noise what so ever. The power steering pulley is bent so I did not put a belt on it. All the gages work. The clock does not. I have a truck and trailer and can deliver the car anywhere in the US for a very reasonable fee. If I bring the car to you and you don't like it or it is not what I have stated, just pay my fuel and travel costs and I will take it back home. There are over 70 pictures of the car in my Photobucket account. If you need to see anyhting else, just let me know. http://s607.photobucket.com/albums/tt153/Curby_73/Corvette/70%20Convertible/On Nov-08-11 at 13:39:19 PST, seller added the following information: I took a picture of the trim code plate in the driver's door. I was incorrect abotu the actual blue color. It is Mulsanne Blue, which is trim code 976. The interior is trim code 400, which is black viny. You can see the trim tag in the Photobucket album.
