Rare 1959 Lincoln Continental Mark IV Presidential Edition Up for Auction, Original 68k 430 V8, No Reserve Ultra rare factory black on black 1959 Lincoln Continental Presidential Edition with power rear window and power vent windows. 68k original miles on the original, matching numbers 350 horsepower 430 V8, two owner car, originally a White House Government staff car. Elderly gentleman I bought it from was told it spent a few months in 1960 chauffering Nikita Kruschev as well as various Kennedys. I cannot confirm this but it doesn't sound like something you'd make up- the license plate bolts fit the larger international license plates, so it seems like it did have some official use. It's in great original shape, very straight and the engine purrs. All the windows work, including the power rear window and the power vent windows. Mechanical work over the last ten years includes new master cylinder and wheel cylinders, new radiator, water pump with fan and clutch, all new hoses and heater core. All power window motors were replaced over the years including the rear window motor. Small crack on dash display as seen in photo. Interior in good shape, front seat could use reupholstering but otherwise very nice and clean with recently replaced carpet. Power seat motor works as well as original AM radio. Always garaged, the Continental's body is very straight and clean. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly. Engine runs smooth and even, doesn't leak anything, garage floor always dry when I pull her out. Runs very strong, LOTS of power, tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles well, shifts smoothly, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. Drives overall like a classic luxury cruiser should. She's roadworthy, all directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work as well as wipers and horn. VIN is HY9C424448.
