Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1997 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD 4.0L non-SOHC V6 automatic trans. Over 220,000 miles. Clean title. Great interior. Haynes manual included. I will try to describe the work needed as best as I can: First and foremost, a large tree limb fell onto the driver’s side of the hood near the fender during Hurricane Irene, but the Explorer was NOT in any flooding whatsoever. The hood and fender were both damaged and there was damage to the supporting structure underneath. The battery, brake system, solenoid, and fuse box are all pushed down. They all work (solenoid needed to be replaced). I hammered the hood quite a bit to get it into a shape that would allow it to close and be driven. The windshield also broke. It isn’t clear whether it was directly hit or whether the windshield frame was damaged by the weight of the tree. I tried to capture the damage in the pictures. (please note that some pics were taken before the hurricane). There are additional items that are not perfect beyond the storm damage. With 220,000 miles, there is expected wear on the car. There is a lean engine code that shows up during cold weather, but does not come back if reset during the rest of the year. Also when cold, the power steering intermittently loses power. This effect becomes less pronounced when the engine warms up. There is also an O/D off code. It is for failure of the TCC to lock. We changed out the valve body and the code does not go away. Lockup is not achieved, so it is likely the TCC itself. It has been drivable like this. The A/C doesn’t work and the dash bulbs are out. The flange for the intermediate exhaust pipe rusted off, so we welded it to the cat. There is still a noticeable leak from it. There is a hum coming from the back of the car when driving. The differential was taken apart and all measurements came in normal. The mechanic advised that there are no issues there and the car can be driven as normal. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping or pickup. Reserve set at junkyard offer. On Oct-26-11 at 10:16:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Also, the vehicle has the typical Ford Truck suspension squeak. On Oct-27-11 at 05:16:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve is $515 On Oct-28-11 at 08:04:55 PDT, seller added the following information: The accident that shows up on the history report describes another car hitting the rear bumper of the Explorer. The bumper was damaged and replaced with a new one.
