Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice example of a 1985 Caterham Super Seven Sprint. It has the 1600cc cross flow engine and close ratio gearbox. It has the Escort Sport gearbox and Morris Ital rear end and axle. With only 9586 miles from new, it is in near-perfect condition and comes complete with copies of original sales records, etc. It has just had the fiberglass components repainted in British racing green, many suspension pieces powder coated, new bushings installed throughout and new adjustable shocks put on. The car has never been raced, autocrossed or modified. It is vintage legal for SCCA and many vintage organizations would be open to this Caterham participation in that it is a pure continuation of the Super 7 under the authority of Lotus, has a 1967 cross flow engine and is more than 25 years old. One would be hard-pressed to find a nicer example of a Caterham Super Seven. This car has a huge "fun-for-the-money" factor and is located in the Seattle area. The car is available for local viewing after November 1st. Following the introduction of the Lotus Seven in 1957, Caterham Cars soon became the renown experts on the Seven and were duly appointed as one of the first Lotus Centers in 1959. Shortly afterwards, Caterham were appointed as the sole concessionaires for the Seven until1973, when the world rights were transferred from Lotus to Caterham Cars. In fact, Lotus Cars has recently re-purchased Caterham cars. The new cash injection ought to help Caterham to further expand its lineup, while cementing the iconic Seven as a veritable staple of sportscar design.Today's Caterham Seven has a timeless classic appeal. Over the past 43 years of Seven production, the dimensions of this unique car have stayed true to the original Chapman design. Happy bidding!
