Vehicle Detail

1965 Chevelle Malibu SS L79, 4 spd. hardtop, black with 2-tone red interior. This is an early 1965 Chevelle built the 4th week of August 1964. I believe the car was sold originally at G.A. Gullikson Chevrolet/Cadillac in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The dealer identification emblem is still attached to the deck lid. I purchased the car with the odometer reading 118,872. The current mileage is an unverified 119,055. Condition of the car suggests it could be original miles. THIS IS A “TIME CAPSULE”! An abosolutely GORGEOUS car! The first show judge I encountered labeled it "BLACK BEAUTY"! Interior is beautiful, but not perfect. Car was repainted by previous owner but not restored. If I had to rate the paint job I would say 8.5-9 or a 5 footer! Underneath is very clean and nearly rust free. This car is mechanically very sound, has the original riveted upper ball joints, and the front end is tight! The car drives and handles like it was new! Honestly I could drive this car to the east coast without a worry! That being said its life since I’ve had it has been as a “trailer queen”. The car has been driven locally to a few car shows/cruises and hauled in my enclosed trailer to out of town events. All with the intention of preserving the pristine original condition! I purchased the car in 2006 from a 3rd party who found it with an owner in Nevada. I have not found any documentation for this car, at least not in the usual places. There is some history I will share with the new owner but the rest is anyone’s guess at this point. The L79 motor that came with the car is a December 1964 build without a vin stamp. The carburetor, intake manifold, distributor, alternator, harmonic balancer, transmission, rear end, and steering box reflect dates consistent with the cars August 4th week build date. I have not been able to authenticate if this is a real L79 car. I know from conversations with surviving experts of the day anything was possible. COPO’s could be transacted if you knew who to talk to. It was also pointed out to me that the early printing of the factory assembly manual reflects parts for the L79 and the elusive L76 in the earlyAugust 1964 editions. Also it was suggested the motor could have been a dealer exchange considering there is NO vin. Never the less I make no bogus claims, it is what it is, a beautiful, fast and real 1965 SS Chevelle. I have found NO evidence this car was ever damaged in any way! Being a numbers person I have tried to give as much information as possible. My investment is much more than my reserve or the buy-it-now price for this car. I will be adding more photos over the next few days. The car is being sold WITHOUT warranty and AS IS....... This is an overview of known issues with this car. The A/C was evacuated and has not been recharged. There is a slightly bent inner tie rod on the drivers side and a ding in the lower control arm below it but it does not affect the driving and handling in any way, in fact I never noticed it until I rebuilt the steering box. The windshield is a non dated replacement and has a 1” scratch on the lower part of the passenger side. The paint has a few flaws but no one seems to see them but me! The silver band on the deck lid, typical of black Chevelles was not added with the repaint. Please Read before bidding: NO sales or shipping outside the lower 48 states .........please understand before bidding! I will consider an international sale on a case by case basis, but nothing leaves this country until payment has cleared! Please ask questions first.....before bidding! Buyer arranges and pays for all shipping charges. Payment must be cleared before shipping......NO exceptions!
