Vehicle Detail

I have owned this Suzuki for about 1 1/2 years. I haven't ridden it except once up the street. In addition to the price I paid to buy it, I have had the seat reupholstered; the gas tank professionally cleaned and coated (there's never been any gas in the tank since that was done!!); bought a new side stand; bought a new factory air box and filter; bought a new factory battery front to the battery box (the bike didn't have one); bought a used, but good, rear brake pedal; and lots of factory oem nuts and bolts and grommets for the seat and gas tank. I'M NOT A MECHANIC. So, I'll tell you everything I know about the bike, but if you write and expect anything more, I doubt I'll know the answer. The person I bought the Suzuki from said he bought it from his father's friend. According to him, the bike had been in a barn for many years. The person I bought it from said the bike ran well, but the charging system was bad. I've read about this common problem in my research of these Suzuki's. When the seller brought me the bike he started it up, but I didn't take if for a ride because I haven't ridden a bike over a 150 cc before, and that was a long time ago. After I bought it I was running up to the store and it quit running about a half mile from my house. The next day I called a mobile mechanic and he jumped it and I rode it home. I decided to have the mechanic start-up an old scooter I had sitting around. Right before the mechanic left, he fired the Suzuki up and it started right up. That's the last I've done anything with it as far as running the engine. I think the problem may have been that I had the fuel petcock turned to prime (I couldn't read the run-prime-reserve-off markings stamped on the petcock). Anyway, the seller told me he cleaned the carbs when he got the bike, but I'm sure he didn't sync them. So, what I guess the bike needs is: charging system parts upgrade (I read Rick's is the way to go); carbs cleaned and synched; the front tire is cracked on the sidewalls and won't hold full pressure. The seller said he had the bike for a few months and needed money and that's why he was selling. I'm selling because I need the money and I am not mechanical enough to spruce it up the way it should be done. The battery holds a charge when I use my scooter trickle charger on it, but that's all I know about the battery. The seller told me he dropped the bike while he was straddling it and that's how the brake pedal got bent. There are a few small scratches on the right corner of the fairing that I figure might have happened when he dropped the bike. The wind screen in the fairing is a little loose, but I don't know if that is common with some fairings. I have seen a brand new Vetter fairing once for this model suzuki and it was $50!!! Of course, I've seen others for $150.00-250.00. I'll try to check my ebay messages once a day for questions, but like I said, I don't really know much more. Thanks and good luck!!!!! P.S. I won't install the air box with filter, but I'll send it with the bike or I'll mail it which ever you prefer. Oh, I also have new Clymer's repair manual I'll include. On Oct-13-11 at 01:15:10 PDT, seller added the following information:P.S. I purchased a new factory seat lock for the seat. I also have bought a new factory fuel petcock - easy to read!
