Vehicle Detail

This 1992 Geo Metro LSI convertible is well used and best if driven at speeds of 45mph or less. Sustained speeds of 55mph or more will cause the #1 plug to foul-out. Yes, it burns oil. When driven around town, 40mph or less, it will go about 300 miles before needing a quart of oil. This little car drives nice and is fun to drive. My wife and I have driven the Geo to work daily for 7 years, including home for lunch every day. We are currently still driving it to work. An engine overhaul and a patch over the rusted opening in the driver's side floorboard, would have this Geo back on the fast-track. It still meets our transportation needs, around town, but we're ready to step up to a newer vehicle. Let's discuss rust. In addition to the floorboard already mentioned, there are rusty spots on both rocker panels. (see photos) There are dents. Beginning with the largest dents on the front right fender, smaller dents on the right side door and the area just behind the door. Also, there are dented areas on the driver's door and rear fender on the left side. (see photos) Doors, hood and windows still function normally. The top of the dashboard has several cracked places. (see photos) The seats are original and usable as is, they were stained when I purchased the car, so I have always used seat covers on them. All of the lights work fine, but the headlights are held in place with wire, because of broken plastic brackets. Door locks don't work, but I've never wanted to lock it, it's a convertible, if someone wants in, they'll cut the top if it's locked up. Glass is all good and the top is in good shape, including the back window. The top was replaced about 6 years ago. The 5-speed transmission is easy to use and works well with one exception. It has the 2nd gear problem that is common with these little cars: 2nd gear can only be reached from 1st gear. So, when downshifting to 2nd, the shift lever needs to visit 1st gear before entering 2nd gear. The AM-FM radio is original and works, but it won't play tapes anymore. Tires are well worn, but still have some life left. I was planning to replace them next Spring. One of the special features is the chrome trunk-rack, it gives the Geo a "Euro" look. This car comes with a nice, blue, nylon car cover that I thought I needed, but only used 3 times, it is parked in the garage at night. Also included is a Chilton's repair manual and a 2 book set of 1991 Geo manuals (1991 is pretty much the same car as the 1992). The horn is from a Buick, to demand more attention in traffic, but the original "beep" horn can be actuated with the square red button on the dash. I use the "beep" horn when I wave at friends. The timing belt was replaced 30,000 miles ago. Various items have been replaced over the years, the most recent of these, replaced in the past year, are both CV joints and the muffler. I've tried to tell all I can about this car, but if I haven't covered something you wonder about, feel free to ask questions. I insist on cash payment when the car is picked up, and that needs to happen within 2 weeks of winning the auction. After paid, arrangements can be made to physically pick up the car at a later date. The title is clear and will be signed over at time of payment. If by 2 weeks after auction's end, the auction winner has not contacted me, I will relist it or sell it locally.
