Time Capsule Vintage 1983 Suzuki RM80D!!!, If you wanted one of these HOT RODS as a kid and did not get it, here is your second chance! If owning your child hood RM80 dream bike is on your "BUCKET List" get ready to cross it off! Up for sale is my slightly used UNRESTORED 1983 Suzuki RM80D , This is a very low time RM80, I am the second owner, The bike still had the original tires with 3/4 tread left. They were severely dry rotted so I replaced them. I have a clean Arizona State title and manual in hand. I have owned this vintage racer for several years, I had no reason to buy it, but it looked like a "Mini Me" next to my 1983 RM500D so I brought it home. I have never seen any other Vintage 1983 RM80 mini racers like this or in this unused condition. The story was that the original owner bought 2 RM80's for his kid to race, this was the practice bike, but set up the same as the racer. His son hurt himself stopped racing and the trashed racer was sold and this was moved to a storage shed for the next 20 years. The bike was from Southern California. I just pulled the bike out tonight, put gas in it and it started right up, I rode it down the street and everything worked great. It does not leak a drop of anything. This bike is FAST!! I Installed NEW Dunlop front and rear tires, Tubes and rim bands, I replaced the throttle cable and clutch cable and the front brake cable just because I had them in stock. I installed the aluminum bars with New grips, I still have the original UNBENT bars that go with the bike and the stock exhaust pipe if you want them. I installed a new Drive chain on the original sprockets, as you can see the sprockets are like new. I did touch up the paint on the frame rails, foot pegs and rear brake pedal where the paint was wore off and had light surface rust. THE REST OF THE BIKE IS AS IT CAME FROM THE SUZUKI FACTORY IN 1983!! The fork tubes are rust free in the travel area, there is one small rust spot on the upper tube about the size of a pencil eraser, I sanded it off and turned the spot on the fork tube to the inside, so you don't see it, The Rear shock still has dampening and the rear shock shaft is rust free, It could use some nitrogen if you were to ride or race the bike, I always had it on a stand. All the Plastic is ORIGINAL not "NOS just bolted on" but 1983 ORIGINAL!, the Tank decals are ORIGINAL, The Air filter is still the ORIGINAL Gray Suzuki air filter and oiled and in like new condition. Most times filter foam this old is falling off the air filter cage. The exhaust pipe aftermarket, and very hard to find, I don't know what brand the exhaust pipe is, but on the frame mounting tab "JJ" is stamped into it? I did sand the light rust that was on it when I got the bike, I wipe the pipe down with WD-40 and it stays nice in the dry Arizona climate. The silencer appears to be stock and undented/unused. The Orginal seat had been replaced with a aftermarket CEET Safety seat foam and cover when the bike was new, The original Suzuki Kill button is still there and working. There is a mini Bob Hannah style "Sunline" front brake lever from the old days. This bike is a treasure for the true vintage collector. I am getting rid of several bike that I do not use to make room in the garage. I hate to see this go but I have only rode it a hand full of times down the street and could go to a new home where it will be a garage queen or racer or great vintage pit bike. The only bad thing I can think of with the bike is a small dent on the bottom side of the pipe header that can be easily blown out. You cannot see it when looking at the bike and I had no plans to ride the bike so I left it. That is it! For a 28 year old vintage Racer! There are fewer Mini RM's left than all the other RM models because most mini's are thrashed and handed down 2 or 3 times, then sold to the neighbor kid and then junked. Just a Note: If you are in the Southern California area and interested in the bike, I may be able to help with shipping or meet you half way, I travel there about twice a month. Email me if interested. This is a true find. Good Luck with the bidding. Thank You for looking.
