Vehicle Detail

I got this car early one Saturday morning out of the local want ads. I hurried over to see it and was greeted by a gentleman and his family. Soon they would be filming me towing home this beautiful Camaro. The man showed me he had received a 100 phone calls in the 12 hours the ad had been running. He also showed me an astonishing 200 emails. His phone rang incessantly as he shared the history of this car on a warm summer morning. This car has been off the road in a garage for 15 years. Apparently soon after a V8 and an automatic had been installed somebody turned the key with the door open. The Camaro lurched to life and buckled the driver’s side door on the garage. It’s probably a small miracle that no one was injured and just the door was ruined. I found a door from a nice guy in the want ads with 12 Pontiacs. I don’t know what he was doing with a Camaro door but we have become friends! I’ll ask him the next time I see him because next week we are going to ride bicycles and look for old cars. The door was easily installed as the hinges had not been compromised and I have rattle can matched it. It looked cool because the door was black with small red pin striping, which is the inverse of the Camaro’s paint scheme now. But I decided to paint it anyway. When I got the car, it had some funky drag racing seats. They were cool but I tore them out and I Hope you appreciate the view of the floor boards. The floor boards look solid and there has been some repair to the driver’s side. Also there is some pin holes showing through the passenger side rear. It’s interesting that someone had painstakingly stripped and painted the floor boards and trunk. It’s a fine job that has stood the test of time. This is a very solid old car. The engine has been starting intermittently. I think it’s time for a starter. A couple of my car guy friends concur. It will start for you right off the bat, but if you try again within a couple minutes… nothing. It’s also due for a master cylinder. This is pretty common stuff for a car that sat for so long. It runs well but the engine appears to be equipped with smog stuff. This is not the original engine or transmission as far as I can tell. When I bought this car, I just knew it was a good, clean, solid platform to do whatever the person that owns it wants to. This Camaro isn’t about a perfect, original, down to the hose clamps restoration. This is a throw caution to the wind, build a monster, put your own stamp on it, personal statement kind of car. I got these wheels from an old codger hermit-ing away in the hills. He had advertised them as real ’67 Vette rallys. They are as nice as any set I have ever had. I can’t verify this but if you want to talk to the old codger, you won’t find him. I’ve dug up a grill and rear spoiler and if I can throw those in on the deal, I will. This was a manual car and the pedals are still there. I have a Muncie and a Hurst shifter out of a ’68 Camaro and it’s included in the deal. It’s a clean tranny and I hugged it close to my chest while huffing it out to my Jeep. Very nice tranny. Well, I hope this information is enough to keep your attention. I have included the VIN tag so you can answer all the questions about that. If this is the car for you please let us know because that’s what we do… bring old cars back into circulation. If it’s not the Camaro for you I wish you well in your search. If you knock down every door and follow up every lead you will find that diamond in the rough or you can just press one button and have this one right here! Update: Yesterday, I purchased a very nice original grill and spoiler from a kind old guy. They had been in the rafters of his garage for 20 years. On another note, there is a hurst shifter in new condition that was matched to the Muncie trans. All these items are included. This is a no reserve auction.
