Vehicle Detail
1985 Volvo 240 GL Sedan Silver Exterior / Black Leather Interior We are selling our 1985 Volvo 240 GL Sedan. The car has approximately 203,000 miles on it, of which 27,000 are on the rebuilt engine and transmission. We are the second owner on the car, which we purchased from the original owner who purchased new in 1985. The original owner owned a trucking company and his mechanics rebuilt the engine and transmission (we don't have documentation of this). The car runs great, and needs some work to be a true classic. Oil changes have been made every 3,000 miles. New muffler installed in 2010. A great car for day trips and to run around the city in, or for a collector who wants to put some money into it to make a true classic. Car "as is". We are moving so have to part with car. LOCAL PICKUP FROM BROOKLYN ONLY. CASH IN HAND. Features: - Automatic transmission - Power locks and windows (work great, may need a new fuse here and there) - Heated front seats - New Dual CD/FM Stereo player with iPhone/iPod/MP3 auxiliary link - New Kenwood speakers in front doors - Sunroof -- gear is stripped (needs to be replaced to function properly) - Interior is in general "good" condition for a car this age - Ample trunk space - Great heater for cold weather - Paint is in overall good condition - Leather seats Issues: - Driver's side quarter panel is dented over the wheel; some rust. - Sunroof gear crank is stripped (common problem and a part that can easily be found on various Volvo forums and websites), some slight leaks in heavy rains - Car currently does not shift out of overdrive; we have the part and it's supposedly an easy (and cheap) fix for your mechanic. - The headlight covers need to be replaced (in classic Volvo fashion, tape works really well!). - A/C blows air, but not cold. May just need Freon, this being the Northeast, we haven't needed it.On Sep-23-11 at 04:18:37 PDT, seller added the following information: 1985 Volvo 240 GL Sedan Silver Exterior / Black Leather Interior We are selling our 1985 Volvo 240 GL Sedan. I'm not sure why the Carfax says we are the 5th owner - we purchased the car from a friend, who inherited the car from her stepfather when he passed away. He purchased the car new. He owned a trucking company and his mechanics rebuilt the engine and transmission (we don't have documentation of this) at around 180,000 miles.
