Vehicle Detail
1957 Chevy 2 door hardtop rough project car. I bought this car a few years ago with good intentions and have decided it would be more work than I have time. As you can see, it has a lot of rust. Someone has done some welding in the trunk and inner fender area many years ago. It also has a lot of bondo and patches in the rear quarters. It will need new floor pans, rocker panels etc. You can see where someone started cutting out some of the floor inside the drivers door in the picture. Will need some rust repair to the frame. The body is currently unbolted from the frame. No bumpers (the front bumper you can see a part of in the picture was twisted) The front clip was not there when I bought it. There is one good front fender that is currently inside the car along with a few assorted trim pieces (headlight rings etc.). There is a hood that may be usable and a very beat up deck lid that I would not try to use if it were me. No seats. I have a set of cloth buckets that go with it if someone wants them. I planned on using them temporarily. No motor or tranny. Most of the stainless is gone. I do have the stainless fin inserts but one of them is pretty wavy. The dash is unmolested, even the original radio is there. The steering wheel is not original, looks to be out of a chevelle or nova. The car was an original power steering/ power brake car. The power steering cylinder and hoses are still there and the brake pedal says "power brake" on it. The doors open and close and the windows will roll up and down with a little help. Both the VIN tag and the Cowl tag are in tact. From the tag info, this started out life as a sharp car. VIN# VC57J2798798 V= V8 (would have been the 283 w/ powerglide auto); C= Bel Air; 57=1957; J= Janesville, WI Assembly plant Style# 57-1037D Body # J16883 Trim# 676 (interior- black and red cloth) Paint# 802 (Matador Red) The wheels that are on it in the picture do not go with it. It will have some old rims and tires that will hold air long enough to get it trailered. Loading will take some effort. The steering column is not hooked up and the back wheels will only turn opposite directions if you jack it up. We can get it on a trailer. I've done it twice already. NO TITLE. It didn't have one when I bought it out of OH. I will provide a bill of sale. I do have a complete four door parts car that is not part of this auction. I am willing to discuss parting with some of the pieces this one needs for additional cash. I have $1400 invested. That is the reserve. Car is located just outside of Neosho, MO. Zip Code 64850. Buyer is responsible for all pickup and transportation. I will help get it loaded.
