Vehicle Detail
This 1948 4 door Nash 600 seems to be a very solid automobile. I purchased it from the widow this summer, fully intending to finish it up. There are just to many irons in my fire for me to take this on, so will have to part with it. The gentleman that started the resoration was running it last fall before he passed away. (I don't think that is what caused his demise) I towed it home, and last week I put in a loaner battery, primed it, and started it up. It ran very nice for a short time, but I could smell the old gas, so quit messing with it. The prior owner, who started the resortation, started with the paint. The paint job is pretty good. Not a $5,000 job, but I think it is ok for show or enjoying. I'm pretty sure the orginal color was/is black. The paint was all he completed. As for the rest of the car, I know it needs a complete interior, probably needs all brakes, and I don't know what else. I always like to have the gas tank and rediator cleaned out, but I have no idea as to whether or not they need it. There is a radio in the trunk, whether or not it is the correct one, or even works, is unknown. I looked for a door tag, and there is only one that say "NASH Series 4800", and the rest of the tag is lubrication and tire pressure instructions. I think the car is complete, and it looks like there has never been any rust, so it is an excellent candidate for restoration, or street rodding. The darned thing makes into a bed too. I have a repro owner's manual and some other printed material You can call me in Sioux City Iowa at 712 251-4220 for any other information you may want. If you win the car, and can't pick it up right away, don't worry about it. I have plenty of room and can keep it as long as required.
