Thankyou. 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport “small letter” This is one of the early 1965 Rivieras know as the small letter cars, as GM shortly after beginning production of this year, decided they would make the Grand Sport emblems larger for some reason. In any event the car has been smoothed and decked of emblems trunk key locks, door handles and outside mirrors. In addition the “clunky” aerial and fake astro vent trim have been removed to create a more “clean” seamless look. Not to worry all removed trim, emblems, stainless will be provided to new owners upon sale, etc Included are the original rally, magnum factory mags w/ a set of double ring wsw tires. Wheels and tires are included w/ sale however buyer needs to pay for shipping extra as only 2 or so of tires will fit safely inside car. I ‘ve owned this car for 10 years and it was restored by a friend in southwest Virginia, who constructs 1-2 cars per year of excellent standards. In addition, my experience of owning a few 65 rivs, this is one of the mostly highly optioned cars I’ve seen, missing only a sun roof( which I’m still not sure was factory optioned? (Please correct me if you have greater knowledge on this subject) Experts have since told me sunroof was never offered. The car has the following options, Gran Sport, to include the original 425 ci 360hp motor equipped w/ the engine dress-up aluminum valve covers , chrome air filter and of course the original 2X4 bbl carbs Power steering, brakes, windows, vent windows, seat, tinted glass ( brand new tinted windshield) factory air ice cold, and still on r-12 Rear window defrost, cruise control, auto headlite dimming(autronic eye) 4 note trumpet hiway horns, dealer included GE handheld spot light and original case. Deluxe saddle interior and the very “valuable” simulated wood gran sport steering wheel w/ excellent horn bar( I’ve seen a complete wheel, in no better condition bring 1500.00 on its own). Most of the Deluxe interior appears to be in excellent original condition w/ a slight separation in one headliner seam which I’ve shown in the pics. Also the dash and door wood inlays have been replaced, all dash, dash pad, gauges, options, etc appear very nice w/ no pitting cracks etc. The only interior issues at this time are, inoperative clock, a fuel gauge that registers full at all times( a new gauge and sender are included w/ this sale. The drivers power vent runs however it may have a stripped gear? The heater core is not hooked up and I believe may have a leak, I’ve never hooked it up as I only drive the car in the summer w/ the air on, a new core is included w/ the sale should you want to replace same. The car drives, handles, stops excellent. That’s it, all other gauges, idiot lights etc, function as original. Of recent times I’ve had the trans removed and resealed to eliminate a small leak, and the oil changed. The battery is a new Optima gel. The car has a built in secret audio system, w/ 10 disc cd player, wireless remote, hidden power aerial etc. The original am signal seeking radio is in place powers up, seeks, etc., but the speakers are being used w/ the cd player. Also there is a FM Solitron converter, as well as a rear speaker reverb switch which I believe would have been a dealer installed option? Hope I’ve not been too long but like all car guys I’m very proud of my car, its condition and would encourage you to look at the car and drive it before you bid as there is no warranty. Please no scammers or dreamers this is one of the nicest 1965 Buick Rivieras and a joy to drive. The vin on this car is in the low 700's and as such don't know if that still would make it a small or large letter Gran Sport, just early production. In addition the car also has a vacuum trunk release fully functional and with that it appears the car has every option that I believe was offerred on the Riv in 65. With some guidance as to where to look was able to see that the block is the correct LX Gransport block as well as having the corrtect VIN stamped on the driver side. again thanks for the help.On Sep-12-11 at 17:20:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I see on this second time around engine pictures were left out? and ebay only allows 24 total so, anyway email if you are a serious bidder and I will be happy to fwd to you some more pics. Rest assure the engine is equipped w/ correct aluminum valve covers, correct chrome air filter covering the correct afb carter dual 4 bbl carbs, sitting atop the original LX block original to this car, linkages choke etc all correct and original. The engine is very well detailed and although the car is a mild custom the engine compartment is very original and correct.
