1935 Ford Coupe Deluxe 5 Window Original 34 36 37 38 DESCRIPTION Up for auction is an excellent original 1935 Ford 5 window deluxe coupe with rumble seat. The body is razor straight and never any damage. The body is all original Henry steel and NO patch panels anywhere. I’ve removed seats and all upholstery panels (door, cowl & rumble) to verify and there are NO PATCH PANELS or damage anywhere. And the fenders are in the same condition. The floors have never been repair, patched or rust. In one of the pictures, you can see the original number (770/720) that’s stamped on each floor section The doors open and close with ease and have a near perfect door gap when closed. The rear window rolls up and down and the windshield swings out and in. And what makes this coupe more exciting is it has the original running gear. The same VIN number (18-1696116), which is stamped on the frame, is also stamped on top of the transmission case. That is very rare to find a car with the original drive train still in the car when it was put in some 75 years ago. The car has never been off the frame and has had one repaint job (Washington blue) some 20 years ago and still shines out great. Everything on the car works. UPHOSTERY AND DASH The seat covers and door panels are original to the car and in very good condition with no tears or rips. There are a couple of small stains on the seats. I never tried to remove them for fear of damaging material with a stain remover. The headliner, cowl panels, rubber mat, rumble seats and rumble sides are new lebaron bonny. It has the rear original roll up and down window glass with the existing date (bug) still on it. The shade material has been replaced and rolls up and down easily. All fuzz channels that the glass fits in has been replaced in the doors and rear window. All glass is in excellent condition (no chips or cracks) roll up and down with ease as original. Rubber seals, including the top seal, windshield and rumble lid were replace with Bob Drake seals. The paint on the dash is original. All dash gauges on the dash look great and function as they should. Even the temp gauge and the fuel gauge, which usually does not work in most cars, work perfect. The radio head in the dash is original, along with the speaker located above the rear view mirror. The radio itself has been updated with modern components and does work on AM or FM. The radio head controls the radio as original. All dash knobs are original. All wiring in the car was replaced with original type reproduction wiring. The old wiring was OK, but 75 year old cloth wiring is too risky. Also the battery is a new 6-volt Optima sealed battery giving the car the energy to start fast in any seasonal condition. I’ve mounted a battery disconnect switch under the running board for long storage. The wiper motor has been rebuilt by Clean-Sweep wiper motor service and works like new, even when you hit the gas. FRAME The frame has never seen any damage or any repairs or had any custom work done to it. It is all original, straight and solid. In fact, it is so nice, the VIN number, located on top, is very visible. (See picture). The shocks are original and have been rebuilt by Bill Wzorex (very expensive). I was surprised at how well they work. The brake hubs have been turned and new woven brake shoes installed plus Flathead Ted’s floating brake system added giving the car the ability to stop fast in any emergency using the brake pedal or emergency brake handle. The wheels are original 16 inch and are true, no curb damage and, again no rust or any pits. The lugholes are not oversized by wear and no broken or stripped threads on any lug studs. The hubcaps are original, shiny and no dents. The original blue paint needs to be touched up. Also are the stainless steel beauty rings, which are in excellent condition. The 6.00x16 inch tires are not new, but have plenty of tread and good rubber. All front-end components were disassembled and cleaned. There was no appreciable wear on any parts. Only items replaced were the front and rear shackles. The steering is tight with no endplay and a new needle bearing was installed in the steering to make for an easier steering car. ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN Engine has approx. 69,000 original miles. When I got the car I wanted to make sure where ever I drove it, I could get back home. So, even though the motor was running fine, I removed it, took to machine shop and told them to do what ever it needs, and in addition, pressure wash out the blocks water jacket. Upon inspection, they found the motor had the original pistons and the tolerance on the bores were border line. So I told them to bore for next piston size. (Old pistons come with car). They did that and also ground the valves. All bearings were with in specs. The engine, along with the heads were cleaned and painted original green color. End result is an original 1935 ford engine that runs smooth and quite. In addition to the engine work, the carburetor, starter, generator and distributor have been rebuilt. The coil and water pumps have been rebuilt and improved by Skip Haney. Both engine pans are in place and no pitting. These are missing on a lot of cars. The transmission was also removed and gone through and needed nothing but cleaning. The pressure plate is in good original condition. The clutch disc and throw out bearing were replaced. Transmission shifts with little effort and does not pop out of second gear like some of these cars do. Since I went that far I removed the rear end. The rear end has the 3:54 gears which people call high-speed gears. That’s where a car will go faster with slower engine RPM’s meaning less engine wear and heat. Since the rear end was apart, I had the mechanic put in all new bearings, gaskets and seals. In addition, mechanic installed new exhaust system including muffler and hangers. Like I stated above, I wanted a dependable car. The radiator was flush out and is in excellent condition. An overflow tank was added to the car (it’s attached to the passenger firewall using existing holes). With the clean radiator, clean block, new water hoses and improved water flow pumps, the car never overheats and I have never lost a drop of antifreeze. During the hot summer, car never got above 180 degrees and mostly stayed at 160 degrees. Also I should mention, this car has the original inner fin fenders that help to remove heat from the engine compartment, thus keeping the engine compartment and drivers compartment cooler. BRIGHT COMPONENTS All chrome work is new or in like new condition. The grille is original and is one of the best grilles I have ever seen. No repairs ever and no pitting on the back. The greyhound dog is a Stant design type dog that was sold as an accessory since Ford did not offer them. The emblem that the dog sits on is also new plated chrome, and yes, the dog’s tail is free standing. PAPER WORK More important then the car it’s self is the title. Without this, you would only have a bunch of car parts. The title is clear and in my name. No in between person to fool with. The VIN number on the title matches the VIN number on the frame. It is a KY title with all the correct information pertaining to the car. Also, car comes with the ORIGINAL (not a copy) 1935 title (same VIN number) that was issued when the car was sold new. I’ve never seen this before but somehow it survived all these years and stayed with the car. In addition, original owners manual with the original enveloped comes with the car. PAYMENY DETAILS Buyer to forward $500.00 using paypal within 3 days of auction close and the balance, bank wire transfer only, within 10 days of close of auction. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements and insurance. The car may remain in its present secure location (which is a locked garage behind my house) for whatever time it takes for buyer to make travel/shipping arrangements. This car is fun to drive. It runs straight and true with no pull to one side or the other. It’s very quite inside, due to the original insulation that is still intact on the interior of the body. Car will not disappoint you. If you would like additional information, call Chester 270-554-4551 or email ccummings4335@comcast.net. I have a very reasonable reserve. Thanks and good luck.
