1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee This is a genuine 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee (Build Date September 12, 1969, WM21N0G120xxx) 440c.i., factory Hurst 4-speed (D21), fender tag, bucket seats (M6X9), factory AM radio (R11), hood pins (J45), rallye wheels, 8 ¾ rear end and 3.23 posi diff., factory EV2 Hemi orange car, black interior, power steering, front disc brakes, black Super Bee “C-stripe” (V8X), dual exhaust with correct chrome tips, and just completed the show quality engine bay, full interior and much more! I just finished a light restoration on this absolutely awesome car. This fine Super Bee provides an excellent all purpose car for shows, cruises and cruising! Although not a 100 point concourse car… it will certainly garner respect and hold it’s own at any show. There were 3,630 Super Bee coupes produced (WM21) and 3,431 had the standard 383 and only 1,336 of them were 4-speeds. PAINT, BODY AND FRAME The body is very straight and in excellent shape. All of the Super Bee’s body numbers match on the door VIN decal, trunk lip, fender tag and the VIN tag authenticating that it is a REAL hemi orange 4-speed Super Bee. The Super Bee has had newer quarter’s installed. The floor boards, doors, fenders and trunk extensions are all in great shape and appear to be original. The trunk floor had the center section repaired (metal patch) and looks great. The frame is in excellent shape and the undercarriage is also very clean and neat with no rust. The rear frame rails had minor repair at some time and looks to have been professionally done. The paint was done a few years ago and still looks excellent. There are two very small paint blisters by the chrome windshield molding (smaller than a dime). There are a few small paint chips that were brush touched and a few very minor flaws, but overall it looks awesome! The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit paper to achieve a high caliber ultra finish. This long process alone took over 40 hours and the finish shows it! The bottoms of the quarters are very nice and clean and not full of filler/bondo like most! I would say the paint is a strong 8 1/2 out of 10. I am also very picky and critical, as well as honest. GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM The glass is in very good condition. The front windshield and driver’s side window are original and have just a few minor scratches/flaws (normal for the age of the car). All windows operate and line-up perfectly. The door handles, remote mirror and inside door handles are in good shape. The antenna is a complete new kit. The trim is clean and was polished for optimum shine. The front grill was restored, painted and looks great. The front bumper is in good condition. The back bumper is nice, but does have two flaws (chrome seems to have lifted in two smalls areas). If I were showing the car every weekend, I would replace the back bumper, if you are using it as an enjoyable driver, it is fine. INTERIOR The black interior is in excellent shape and has a newer headliner installed, newer seat covers, door panels, arm rest bezels, trunk divider, carpet and speaker shelf. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. The oil pressure gauge is an autometer gauge. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, reverse lights, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, four-way flashers and map light. The fan motor, defrosters, wipers, horn and E-brake all work. As typical the factory clock and factory AM radio does not work. DRIVE TRAIN The strong running 440 makes excellent power and runs great. This engine runs extremely smooth and very easy to drive in any given traffic condition. The 440 had a new top end installed, including Competition Cam (#21-223-4), sealed power lifters, Cloyes double roller timing chain, new water pump and all gaskets, fluids, etc. The cam spec’s are listed below; it is a very mild street cam. The Hurst pistol grip 4-speed A833 (D21) transmission shifts excellent through the gears and is an absolute blast to drive! The Super Bee has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic. The 440 sounds excellent with the brand new exhaust, mufflers and factory chrome tips! This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving.
