Vehicle Detail
1971 Torino GT, original options include: rare factory Grabber Blue paint, black interior with factory bucket seats, M code 351C 4V, C6 automatic, power steering, power disc brakes and air conditioning. It is pretty much stock except for the 15" Magnum 500 wheels and TA radials which are in like new. Just under 139k original miles! Still has it's original D1 numbered Ford mufflers on it! The body on thie Torino is one of the nicest I have seen and has very solid frame, rockers, floors, trunk, cowl, quarter panels and tail light panel. The paint was redone a few years ago in base coat/clear coat and it is very straight and shiny. While I wouldn't call it shows quality but it is very nice. No signs of previous accident damage or rust repair except for a very small section in one quarter panel behind the wheel where it looks like a patch just a little smaller than a silver dollar was put in. The car has not really been driven since the paint was done so there is no roadrash or dings to speak of. There is one or two chips on the whole car but that is it! The trunk floor, underside of trunk lid and door jams were not repainted and are still wearing their original paint, that's how clean this car is. The car was never undercoated from the factory and it is very clean underneath. Someone did put a light coating of undercoating on some of the floor to protect it but it comes off very easily. The GT rockers are some of the nicest I have seen and are in very nice shape with just a couple small dings in the trim above the ribbed rocker. The bumpers are original and showing a bit of age but they still look good and are straight with no rust. The rest of the trim is in nice shape with some pitting on the trim below the rear quarter windows. The doors have new weatherstripping. Doors don't sag. Windshield has one chip near the bottom in the center that would be easy to have fixed but it's not really that noticable when driving so I never bothered. There is a crack around the door latch that was not fixed when it was repainted. It has some oversized washers now so it will hold up fine but it could be repaired without affecting the outside paint if the new owner wishes. I was going to install laser stripes as I think they would really make the car stand out but once I decided to sell I figured I'd let the new owner decide what they wanted. The interior has been mostly redone and looks very clean and nice. It has a new headliner, carpet and upholstery. The dashpad is original and looks very nice with no apparent cracks. The door panels are original and are showing some wear but they are still very presentable. The rear deck has never been cut for speakers and is not warped like most. It does have a few scratches in it and it should probably be repainted but it is a very nice piece. Currently is has no radio installed, if I can find what I did with the original radio it will go with the car. The 351C 4V has been rebuilt to mostly stock apecs and has less than 1,000 miles on it. It was balanced and has a mild cam. I was told by the previous owner that about $3,500 was spent on the motor at a reputable shop in Idaho but it was done several years ago and the receipts were lost during a move. Other than a Holley carb (original carb included) the motor is stock with original exhaust manifolds etc. It's fairly quiet with the factory dual exhaust and original Ford mufflers. Transmission works well. The A/C components have been removed from the engine compartment but they are all included with the car so it can be put back on if the new owner chooses. It runs and drvies good but the steering is original and has a bit of the typical Ford play. All lights work as do the wipers. The heater switch needs to be replaced but I will include one. This is a great looking car and it is ready for someone to start enjoying right away. Lots of money invested into it and with a very low mileage and solid body to start with it's hard to beat. It could use a few very small things to finish it off but not much. The car is sold as is/where is. I have done my best to describe all its flaws but it is a 40 year old car and it is not perfect. Vehicle is available for inspection by appointment. A $500 deposit is due within 3 days of auction end with balance due within 7 days. Car must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. Shipping arrangements and expense are the responsibility of buyer.
