Vehicle Detail
This First Year Cougar is as nice as you can find. My friend purchased the car as its second owner in 1969. In 1970 he put on Sears Glass Belt tires, which I've just replaced with white letter steel belts. He hadn't used the car for the past 5 years, and it only needed the tires, water pump, wheel cyls, fuel sending unit, wheel center caps, spare tire/truck cover and some new hoses to put it in fine running condition. The black vinyl interior is just as it left the factory, and just as nice. All I had to do was wipe it down with a damp towell. The maroon paint had faded, so I had it repainted and clear coated. I can actually say that it is now nicer that when new. While doing this I had all weather seals and window "fussies" replaced. I took the car on a nice little tour, and it is a real pleasure to drive. Lots of power from the 280 cid and the steel belts make it drive nicer than new. I can honestly state that the car needs nothing. If it did, I would have done it. I have a lot of stuff that goes with the car. Owners manual, receipts, many of them 45 years old. The Cougar is currently on display in the Mid-America Museum of Air and Transportation. They tell me that hundreds of pictures of it have been taken.
