1977 MAICO AW250 MX RIP Adolph Weil Simons front forks Fox Air Shocks, 17.5" Thorwaldson Aluminum Swing Arm Wheelsmith Pipe Also includes original Maico front forks, and Simons Triple Clamps for Suzuki, Honda, & CanAm. History: Haven't raced this bike since late 1979 when I switched to a 1978 model to lose some pounds and gain some HP. Last rode it for fun in January 1987. I kept this one because it was the most forgiving of all the bikes I have owned! Never did an "endo" on this one! Thought about restoring it myself, but as the years went by never had the time....old story! With all the lingering MX aches and pains I don't know if I would be inclined to ride again anyway! WFO on 2 wheels is less appealing now! Note: This is a restoration project for the nastalgia fan! Motor hasn't been started for sometime but still has very good compression! Clean the points, fresh gas should run fine, if the crank seals hold......you know the routine! Simons forks have leaking seals....no surprise after all this time! The fork tubes have some dings & pits, need rechromed or? The Fox Airs need rebuilt and the bladders are leaking too. Just being honest here! We all know the recent value of the Simons and Fox Airs by themselves. I thought about parting the bike but I decided against it! Also in case someone notices, the front brake and hub is 1978 RM 125 Suzuki (light weight). Don't have the original Maico front brake anymore, but then I remember someone telling me "brakes are overrated"!
