Vehicle Detail

0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false This is a 1963 Studebaker Champ ½ ton short box pickup ready for restoration. Last time I had it running it ran just fine and everything was working properly (including the radio which had been electronically restored about 4 years ago) however that was two years ago since it was parked. I am the third owner of this truck which was originally retailed by Central Automotive in Yakima Washington. Was later used as a work truck by a landscaper in Maine who never used it in snow or inclement weather. Engine is the 6 cylinder which has always started right up even after sitting for periods of time. The transmission is 3 speed with the overdrive. Nice part of the overdrive is the automatic governor was bypassed with a handy toggle switch under the dash which allows for manual operation of the overdrive. This means that you can kick it in or out at any speed – not the speed set by the governor! Very handy when using the truck for work. In overdrive I regularly achieved 26 MPG on the open road and out of overdrive there is lots of usable power and torque – you can pull up tree stumps all day with the powerful low gearing ratio. NOS speedometer which shows 6000 miles. The old speedometer showed around 83000 miles so I believe the most accurate mileage is about 91000. The frame is solid, no rust or rot, the body is good however it’s time for restoration, you will see the areas on the doors where rust is bubbling up as well as the box panels. All of this is restorable and there is plenty here to make it into a show truck or good solid workhorse for fairly short money. I am selling this as a restoration candidate, therefore it is not guaranteed to be road worthy. No reserve. Successful bidder agrees to $500 deposit via PayPal within three days of close of auction and full balance in cash or certified check within 7 days of end of auction. I will work with your auto shipper to make pickup and transport easy and smooth. Feel free to e-mail with any questions you may have. Good luck! On Sep-01-11 at 14:34:32 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, I just charged up the battery and cranked it over. She started right up (after two years sitting) and ran smoothly. I checked out all of the electrical components and everything is working, lights, radio, stoplights, directionals, wipers. etc. So from a mechanical and electrical standpoint it's good to go. Just needs some TLC in the body and finish department as noted above! On Sep-05-11 at 18:28:14 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, per several requests from viewers, I checked out the tires: the two on the right side which are flat are due to bad valve stems, the tires themselves seem ok. The two on the drivers side are inflated and are fine. I checked my records and I replaced all four tires back in 2005, which makes them with about 6000 miles on them. All of them look great and with new stems should give plenty of trouble free miles of driving.
