Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my grandfathers 1967 Dodge Polara. He purchased the car new at James J. Dargan Chrysler Plymouth in Saugerties New York. It has the original protector plate under hood near radiator. He died in 1986 and the car remained in the garage and became a 3rd extra car for my parents. It was the car that was used when one of there main drivers was in the shop or not available to use. In 1996 mom and dad stopped using it. It sat in the garage with the keys in the ignition until last week. The car has served the family well. It has 84,000 miles. I had the car towed to my mechanic. The car started effortlessly. The engine is a 318 V8. It runs amazing, NO taps knocks ticks or funny noises. This car has been sitting since 1996. The mechanic said all fluids should be flushed including a new thermostat antifreeze and all oils trans crankcase ect. Car stops fine brakes are holding fine. Transmission was replaced at about 80,000 miles, or 4000 miles ago due to leaks. As opposed to repairing it my dad had a new one installed. It shifts PERFECT. Air worked but belt dry rotted. The A/C system is an under dash Thermo King unit my grandfather had put in when he purchased it. The car has crank windows. All glass is dirty but fine no cracks. This Dodge is a HARDTOP no post. The vinyl roof is in very good condition with no rips or cracks that are visible. Paint is faded. Car has bondo some of which is pictured showing the lower quarter panel. The pic shows it blistering through. The car was never in a collision or major accident. My grandfather hit the garage and side doors many times and had them painted each time. Driver's door hinge pin is worn and due for replacement. Wheel wells are rotted in engine compartment as seen in pics. The undercarriage is fine showing normal age but no floor board rot. Floors are super solid. Trunk is solid as well. You can stand in, it no give, its not rotten. My grandfather used black silicone as seen in a pic to patch where at one time trunk seam seal existed. Dash has some cracks. My parents had the seats recovered with new material. Carpet is in ok shape were covered with floor mats. Lights work as well as wipers and flashers. Exhaust system looks fairly new, still shiny. My parents replaced the radiator and tires before retiring the car in 1996.This car should be towed or shipped to its final destination. I would NOT drive the car home until it was freshened up by a mechanic. Pictures tell it all... if you need more I can send more. It is what it is... priced to sell.
