I had been sneaking peeks at this Gremlin for quite a while. It was resting comfortably just a block and a half from my good friend's residence. The little Gremmy was parked down a long driveway with a very heavy canvas tarp draped over the roof and windows. Then one afternoon to my surprise and consternation the little car appeared in the local want ads. I called immediately, informed the owners I knew the location and told them I wanted the car, no ifs, ands or buts. When we arrived I was greeted by a friendly young couple who told me it was her grandmother's car. It was no surprise because this car is in great shape. There was a log in the glovebox of all the gas stops and mileage and service and so on. I loved this car from the moment I saw it and told the couple I would push it down to my friend's house if they would accept my offer. They looked surprised that it could be this easy, but paperwork was exchanged, cash counted, hands shaken, and off we went. My friend down the street is a full time mechanic. I had him check over the car and do a careful start up. This turned into changing all the freeze plugs and draining the old gas. This was an involved task but the end result is that the car is fully functioning. It gets all the looks. It's America's first subcompact! Nobody can remember seeing one of these recently and neither can we except for the one we sold last year. This car is in much better shape and I would classify it as an 8 out of 10 survivor. Unfortunately the day I took the pictures was quite gray and foggy. The little car shines nicely in the noon day sun. Well, here's another classic car from your folks at CarsandDogs1970. There's been a lot of great rides turning up. I had to tell my mechanic an asking price since everyone wanted to know. Well here it is. A running and driving 41 year old car. Needs a little TLC but other than your careful attention this fun grocery getter will have you smiling down the road.
