"84 Mercedes Benz 190D 2.2 Diesel 4 cylinder, 5 speed transmission. This car will not pass New York State Safety inspection. The uni-body has been rotted by New England Road Salt. The engine runs spectacular and the trans shifts like a hot knife threw room temp butter. It has quite a bit of mileage on her, the engine leaks oil a little, and burns a bit, about 1 qt, each 1000 miles. Fuel mileage was about 38 to 40 in high way. All the lights sun roof, and most other electrical stuff worked ok. Radio is a aftermarket cheap junk. I replaced all the rear suspension linkage, man can this car handle in the twisties! Also had new front springs put in when had front spring towers rebuilt. The door locks even worked well!! New tie rods,etc,,,I did a lot of work before I had the car checked by a NYS inspector, kinda dumb on my part. The brake system has been totally replaced or rebuilt. New Rotors pads, all the lines replaced w/ european spec lines, calipers all rebuilt, this car could stop on a dime! This car will run I just have to put a battery in it. The exhaust system from manifold to second muffler has been replaced, it's quite quiet. I sunk over thirteen hundred dollars American into this wonderful little automobile. I am hoping to get six hundred dollars American for it. The ugly is the quarter panels are so far rotted that the mounting brackets that attach to the sub frames are weak. I had brought the car to a welder last year, but he has never gotten around to look at it, it's been sitting in a dirt parking area for over a year. The tires are not any good, and two of the four windows aren't working. This would be a great parts car, or pull the eng. and trans and put it in a rat rod. I had been making bio-diesel and running it for about 5,000 miles trouble free. The tank sits now 3/4 full of Diesel from last year.
