Up for sale is my 1998 Mercedes E300 Turbo diesel. Mercedes introduced the turbocharged engine in 1998, it has considerably more torque and horsepower than the normally-aspirated engine of the 1997 E300D, and gives up surprisingly little in performance to the gasoline-fueled E320. The E300 Turbodiesel doesn't sacrifice economy, with 30mpg easily obtainable in normal driving conditions. I am a car enthusiast and Mercedes cars are my passion, I currently own 3 of them. I purchased this car 5 years back with veg oil conversion in mind but due to a very busy career I could never start this project. When I bought this car I was looking for an un-abused, low millage, well kept car that could become a reliable daily driver. If you know diesel mercedes cars then you probably know that the owners love their vehicles; these cars are driven for many years and many many miles by the original owners. As such, it is very difficult to find a low millage vehicle. This car had all the qualities that I was looking for but it had a salvage title. The previous owner was involved in a wreck which damaged the right rear door quarter panel, but the car was structurally sound, it was professionally repaired and brought back to factory specs. It has been issued a rebuilt title by the state. In last 5 years, I have put very little millage on this car, it has mainly been sitting in my garage. However, I have kept up with all regular maintenance items. It has been recently serviced and all fluids and filters have been replaced; within the last 2,000 miles I have replaced the battery and all diesel lines and seals (to make it compatible with the low sulphur diesel). I have bought new toys and need the garage space, thus this one has to go. Below is a description of the major components of this car. Engine & Transmission: Engine starts right up and sounds the way it should, there are no leaks or vibrations what so ever. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is a solid 9 Suspension: The car drives straight and handles the way it should. There are no vibrations or rattles even on the rough roads. A solid 9. Interior: This car has a full leather option and the leather is in excellent condition. 8 out of 10 Electronics: All electronics work the way they should except for the radio. It has the Bose stereo system, the radio stopped working when I replaced the battery. It probably needs the code from the dealer. 8 out of 10 Body: It looks very nice overall. The black paint is rust free and shines really well. There are some scratches and dings that are expected in a 1998 year car. 8 out of 10. I encourage you to inspect the car prior to bidding.
