This 1-owner low mileage almost last year made 1996 Aerostar Extended 4 wheel drive was recently traded at a big franchise store in Colorado Springs on a new Chevy van. They don't sell vehicles like this, so we acquired it from them. The van is in spectacular condition for the age, really remarkably clean interior and likely garaged most of its' life. It hasn't been smoked in, runs and drives excellent, everything works, just a neat older van. For some reason Autocheck lists it as a 3 owner, but you can confirm it's a 1-owner on the Carfax report. The title also reads just 1 owner. This isn't the first time we've seen this with Autocheck. At any rate, this is likely one of the nicest remaining Aerostars and it's still a lot of vehicle for the money. exterior The paint and body on this truck are excellent for the age and mileage. It has a clean Carfax, no accidents. It has nice gloss, no rust and no hail damage. The van has been here in Colorado since day one and we don't salt the roads in wintertime. The body is all straight except a small crease/ding in the left rear 1/4 which should pop right out. Our paintless dent repair guy is scheduled to come by a day after this ad goes up and we'll update the photos and info. The tires have decent tread, not new, but not quite ready to replace. The windshield has a small crack under the drivers side wiper. It's not in the line of sight. If you'd like a new windshield, our cost is $125. Apart from that, just a few small marks here and there, and the right front fender has been repainted at some point, looks fine and matches fair. The photos should show it, probably cleaner than most any Aerostar still on the road. interior The interior is beautiful. It smells nice and hasn't ever been smoked in. There are no rips, burn holes or noticeable stains to speak of. The van is very well equipped and everything works just fine. We have the original manuals. I can find nothing to complain about at all inside. mechanical This little guy runs out perfect and came in that way. Clearly someone's loved it every day of its life. That goes with service too. I've shown a couple quick photos of the fluids, oil looks to have been changed within the last 1,000 and transmission fluid within the last 10k. Fluid changes are imperative to longevity and I'm sure this vehicle's been in regularly. I've had the van out, runs very smooth and quiet, no odd noises, no warning lights, transmission is very responsive and easy to shift, motor has good power, and it drives very straight. The only thing we had to do was install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge because the head in the original was bad. These ol' Aerostars were extremely durable and they did great in the snow. I believe all the extended AWD models came with the 4.0 motor. It was FAR better than the 3.0 which was underpowered and consequently got poor fuel economy. The design on the 4x4 system on these vans is actually quite interesting. You can read about it on wiki. It's basically a rear wheel drive van with electronically engaging center differential type 4x4, closer to a real 4x4 than standard all wheel drive vehicles. I just had a look under the van on the rack, effectively bone dry, no wet leaks at all, not even really much in the way of crusties, pretty impressive.
