Vehicle Detail

1966 Fairlane 500 Solid West Coast car. 2 door hardtop. Stock equipment 289 engine and automatic transmission. Power steering. Refurbished bucket-seat interior. Aqua exterior with aqua interior. Body: This was a little-old-lady car.....but she needed glasses. When I received car it had many small dents distributed on nearly every panel. I replaced original doors with straight donor doors from another 66. Front fenders were also procured and media-blasted, zinc washed, and sprayed with etching primer. As you can see in pictures--quarter panels will need body work--but no rot repair. Trunk lid is straight. Hood is good. Front and rear glass and seals are new! All chrome and extra (2) headlight buckets are included in sale. Drivers side front floor has a contoured welded-in patch panel approx 18"x18" (appears to be from the floor of another Fairlane). There is a bit of surface rust here and there, but no observed signs of rot requiring panel replacement. Interior: Car came to me with new carpet and new seat upholstery. I have installed new door panels and rear panels. New package tray, pedal pads, and pillar-trim also. Headliner is in good "driver" condition. All windows roll up and down. Windows/doors could use fresh seals. Turn signals, brights, and dome light all function. Heater is bypassed due to heater core leak--sale includes replacement heater core. Horn does not work. Sale includes a dash-pad cover (ABS plastic) died to correct color; see pics. Drivetrain: This is a pedestrian 289 (2v) engine that appears to have never been touched (bolt locks are still present on exhaust manifolds). Engine starts every time off 2 pumps of the pedal. C-4 automatic functions properly. On-column shifter linkage is vague--could use some attention. Freeway gears in the rear axle. Brakes are typical for all-drum brakes of the era. Summary/Other: This car presents a good base for a hot rod build-up or street cruiser. It is ready for your 390 or 428 and a toploader. Dearborn Classics sells all the little parts and pieces. Paint it your dream color or keep the factory Aqua tones. If you have questions or need pictures of specific areas please let me know. I am not an expert, more of an experienced enthusiast--but I will do my level best to get you the information you need to make your buying decision an informed one. PS: I have not run a Carfax report....but I was told car spent much of its life in Nevada before coming to Washington state. Mileage stated in posting is what is displayed on the functioning odometer. Terms: Deposit within 24 hours. Full payment within 7 days. Shipping will be at buyer's expense.
