1983 MERCEDES-BENZ 240D DIESEL California W123 Diesel NO RESERVE AUCTION I'm selling my 1983 CALIFORNIA Mercedes-Benz 240D Diesel. This particular sedan is Gold Metallic, and is complimented by a classic Palomino MB-Tex interior. The exterior coat of paint appears to be original, and as such does show some areas of clear-coat peel from the CA sunshine. Overall the sedan is solid straight and original, showing no dents, rust spots, or body damage. This 240D is a pleasure to drive and runs nice and strong. The engine is a 4 cyl. diesel which has been tuned and adjusted to purr properly. The engine has no oil leaks above or below, all glow plugs have been recently replaced as well as all of the engine filters (air, fuel, and oil) The belts are all only a few months old. The Bosch battery is new, and most major fuel and coolant hoses have been replaced. Overall the engine is very clean, original and runs strong with proper acceleration for a 240D. The transmission is automatic, and has never given me any problems, it shifts smooth and crisp thru its gears. This Mercedes overall handles nice and solid, with good suspension. One of the rear lower trim pieces is missing, I didn't realize when it fell off, but it might be available used on ebay for less than new. Sunroof works great, it opens and closes quickly and smoothly. The A/C system does not work, however the system is complete and intact with belt. I believe the climate system including a/c may be working but the blower fan stopped working and would need to be replaced. Windows are all working but I sometimes have trouble with the switches, they sometimes need to be pressed harder to get them to work. The sunroof works great, it opens and closes smoothly. This Mercedes is equipped with an awesome Sony Xplod series stereo. It has a special connector for your ipod or iphone, as well as front plug-in jack. The antennae on this sedan was also replaced and is working nicely. Drivers seat shows one small wear spot, that looks like its from sun exposure. However, Its a very peculiar spot because the rest of the seat is nice and soft showing no signs of damage from the sun or heat. In fact the entire interior is in beautiful and original condition. The carpets are all beautifully clean and intact showing no wear or tear after 28 years! The interior MB-Tex remains intact on all doors and trimming. The headliner is nice and clean and free of tears or rips. I removed the center arm rest to have room for my cup holder and phone accessory, I have it available, and stored in the trunk. The armrest can be easily re-mounted to the drivers seat. Intact MB-Tex on all four doors, as well as solid rust-free door bottoms Undercarriage remains solid and rust-free, and even retains its original undercoating. This sedan is powered by a 4 cyl. diesel engine that has been tuned and adjusted to purr properly. The engine has no oil leaks above or below, all glow plugs have been recently replaced as well as all of the engine filters (air, fuel, and oil) The belts are all only a few months old.
