RELISTING THESE TRUCKS.... I'VE BEEN OUT OF TOWN ON A JOB FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS, SO NOW I'M BACK TO DEAL WITH THEM. I STARTED THE WHITE ONE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY. SO, Here's the same old listing. Lots of you looked last time, so c'mon, one or more of you bid!!! I'm listing this pair of Chevrolet LUV Mikado 4x4 pickups for my girlfriend. One is in running condition, the other is a parts truck, and is actually titled 1980. I'm a tinkerer and not a mechanic, but here's what I think about them. The running one runs, but not very well. We put a carb kit in it and ignition parts- points, condensor, rotor, plugs, new wires, new dist cap, and it helped a bit. We also exchanged the distributor with the parts truck, because it had some slop. I think it needs a new carb, and the excellent 'Weber' replacements are listed on ebay for 299.00. The compression is lower than it should be. I don't recall what the shop told me it was, but I think it was 80 compared to 120 spec. The prev owner worked on the head, and it does tap, so maybe the valves are not seating well. It does not burn oil at all, or appear to have serious blow by, so I don't think it's the rings. It does get us to town 12 miles away. The last time she drove it in 4wd, there was an audible thump when turning onto our road, and now a regular grinding noise from the front end equalling tire rotation when in 4wd. It is quiet in 2wd, so I think it is a hub, not the differential. I think it would make the noise constantly if it was. It runs close to hot if driven on the highway for a while, so we first put an electric fan in front of the radiator, but it only helped a bit. I purchased an aluminum radiator for a civic as it's very close to the same size, but it will need a bracket fabricated to install. It will be included with the truck. The body has minimal rust, as it is a southern Colorado high desert vehicle. The worst spot is pictured. The paint and original decals are sun faded. there is a small dent on the front right corner. The chrome and grill are pretty good. The lights, gauges, turn signals work. The interior is fair at best, with worn seat and sun cracked dash pad. Door panels are okay. The parts truck has a rough bed and crack in the windshield, no carb, and the worn distributor. But it is pretty complete, with good chrome and grill. We bought them because she got stuck on one of the dirt roads up here after a rain, and wanted a 4WD truck. She's not comfortable driving it to the nearest city about 40 miles away, so they have to go. We paid $500 for the pair, and have right at $1200 in them now. They're for sale with no reserve, and a starting bid at $500 for the pair. Both trucks have clear titles, and the driving one is in our name. We did not transfer the parts truck, but we have a bill of sale and title from the P.O. I'm not a mechanic, or I'd be keeping them. Someone better equipped than me will be able to have a neat little 4x4 with plenty of spares, or have two good parts trucks. There is a website dedicated to these little trucks: LUVtruck.com. Ask me anything, and I'll try to answer if I know. The previous owner wasn't exactly honest in his description, but I have been here. Oh yeah, We put new all terrain tires on it, and they have less than 200 miles on them. Buyer is responsible for moving the vehicles and/or shipping costs. A deposit of $250 is required by paypal within 48 hours of closing. Balance is payable by certified check. Thanks for viewing, and Happy Bidding! ...vehicle is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. ***...I had an inquiry about the parts truck, so I took some photos of the under side and interior of it for him. While the bed is a mess, with the damage in the photos, the underside of the cab shows no rust. Also, the radiator is out- it is the radiator in photo of the bed of the white truck.. so it's still there. Finally, it looks like the blue parts truck is not a "Mikado", which was the top trim package for the line. The bed and hood on it are from a mikado, but the emblem on the glove box and int door trim is not mikado. Just want to let potential buyers know everything I do about it. Thanks. ** The All Terrain tires we got for the white truck are "Uniroyal Liberator A/T, 215-75R15s, and have less than 200 miles on them. * August 6, 2011- The compression test showing lower than spec reading was for all cylinders, further leading me to believe that the issue is with the p.o.'s work on the head, rather than rings. More times than not, compression ring issues will show one or more cylinders with lower compression than the rest, as they wear at different rates. These all read low, but close. I spoke with a friend here today that has more mechanic knowledge (and tools) than I do, and he said he'd bring his compression tester here to do a quick check and give his opinion. If/when that happens (allegedly this week), I'll post the results. On May-28-11 at 11:15:10 PDT, seller added the following information: * I just added a couple more photos, of the hard to find interior door panels that are in pretty good shape. So far, this listing is on 33 people's "watch list", so get those bids in, folks! Two trucks here, lots of parts. THANKS!
