Vehicle Detail

Nice 1966 AMC Ambassador 990 convertible in original, unrestored condition. This car was babied and always garaged. Equipped with an AMC 327 V-8. Runs very smoothly and doesn’t smoke. Automatic transmission occasionally shifts roughly, but very drivable as is. Over $2,000 in brake work over the past year. New rear brakes, front calipers were sent to Michigan and relined with stainless steel liners by Calipers Online, new front brake pads, new master cylinder, and new flex hoses. All instrument panel gauges and lights work. Original AM radio and clock in place but do not work. Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo installed under dashboard, but could be removed if desired. Heater works fine, AC blows cool (not cold) air. Engine cooling system works well. Power steering works well. Front end is tight. Good tires. Emergency brake works fine but the ratchet pawl slips. Original carb was replaced with a new Holley 4160 with manual choke (original carb will be included with car). New air cleaner and new Pertronix Ignitor II electronic ignition (points will be provided if you wish to return to original ignition). New old stock front shocks installed last year. Odometer shows 71K miles, but I do not believe that to be accurate. Body is not perfect but very nice with no dents. Appears to me to have been repainted at one time. Both bumpers are pushed in slightly on one side. A few dings in grill (thanks to my local brake shop). Passenger taillight has a crack in the lens but a pristine taillight will be included with the car. Car has no rust anywhere that I can see. Convertible top is in good condition and powers up and down at a flip of the switch. Original interior is in nice condition with no rips or tears in seats. Some wrinkling in vinyl of door panels. All window glass is intact and windows roll up and down smoothly. Trunk is pristine. Clear title in my name. Registered thru August, 2012. No smog required in California. The 1965-66 Ambassadors were some of the nicest looking convertibles produced in the 1960s. Famous for their smooth ride, ample power, and comfortable seats. This car draws compliments everywhere I take it.
