1976 R90/6 Original Concours Condition NO RESERVE 1976 BMW R90/6 Original, Unrestored, Monza Blue, Concours Condition, 35,315 Miles, Extraordinarily Beautiful Survivor - Runs Beautifully -- Shifts Solidly -- Has Gobs of Torque – a Real Blast (from the past) to Ride! - All Electrics Work: Turn Signals, Dash Lights, Indicators, Brake Lights, Horn, High/Low Beams, etc. - Complete with Original Toolkit, Tire Pump, Rag, Owner’s Manual, BMW Service Station Book All Original BMW Equipment Except: - The mounted shocks are new retro remanufactured period-correct shocks from Bob’s BMW; however, the original Koni shocks that came with the bike are included (see picture). - The emblem on the seat is not original – it is a waterproof decal. - The key fob is made by Wunderlich – I have the original straight key plus a few spares – the Wunderlich fob integrates very well with the ignition; so well, most people don’t know it’s a key. - The 1-year old Gel Battery is not OEM and is very strong! One deficiency: The ignition key will not lock the fork – the key goes in but the fork lock will not turn – the key works fine everywhere else (ignition and the seat lock) – this has never been a problem for me as I never let this beauty out of my sight. CARE/CONDITION: I bought this bike from a collector in Alabama last year and paid a premium for it because of its superb condition. The paint is original – it displays the wonderful “patina” of a pampered 35-year old survivor with touch-up paint on very small rock chips from the road – there are no dents or dings, except for a few small ones on both valve covers (see photos) which are not really noticeable to the casual observer unless you stoop down to examine the bike. Remember, this was not a “Museum Queen”; it’s been ridden 35,000 miles by a few very lucky owners. I’ve been over every inch of the bike and it appears to have been extremely well taken care of. I would not hesitate to enter it “as is” in a concours-level bike show competition. In fact, the previous owner told me the bike did win a concours-level competition. It starts strong, runs like a Swiss clock; every gear change is solid; acceleration is smooth and linear without any hesitation – it’s an on-demand “torque monster.” I’ve read this is the next “must have” airhead if you are a collector. If you’re not a collector and just want to own a classic (and fast) naked bike that is fun to ride and built to last, this is the best “wind-in-your-face” touring bike from the 1970s. Quote from a 2007 Motorcycle Classic article 10 Days with a 1975 BMW R90/6: “We think the BMW R90/6 is a perfect machine for the classic bike enthusiast looking for a comfortable and reliable touring machine. Its winning combination of classic looks, legendary reliability and fine road manners make it easy to live with, and its flexible, surprisingly powerful engine makes spirited riding easy, if not down right fun. Add to that an established network of supportive and knowledgeable parts and restoration experts — and riders — and you have a classic bike ideally suited for everyday use. If you end up winning this bike you’ll have to put up with lots of staring, adoring motorcyclists and tourists, especially “baby boomers” who lovingly recall their youth when they see or hear the bike. So, be prepared for lots of smiles and lots of questions, which isn’t all bad if you like meeting new, friendly people everywhere you go. If you don’t like attention, this is not the bike to own. NO RESERVE: There is NO RESERVE on this auction; so even 1 lone bidder (that could be you) has a chance to win this classic naked bike. QUESTIONS: If there are any questions I can answer please don’t hesitate to e-mail me. However, during the week I will not be able to get back to you until I get off work (about 5:30 MDT). Until then…Good Luck if you decide to bid! SHIPPING/DELIVERY: I will go out of my way to get the bike to you whether you choose to pick it up yourself or have it shipped. I would be happy to pick you up at the airport if you choose to fly in and ride away, or if you decide to ship it, I will work with your shipper to turn over the bike, even deliver it to a convenient location within the local area (e.g., Pikes Peak Motor Sports, just off the freeway in Colorado Springs). However, all the funds must clear before the bike is released PAYMENT: I would like $500 sent via PayPal or an overnight check within 48 hours of the winning bid. Next I would like the balance paid within 10 days of the winning bid via wire transfer, cashier’s check, even a personal check is O.K. as long as you don’t mind waiting for my bank to clear the funds. No cash please. SORRY, NO TEST RIDES: Due to liability/insurance concerns, I regret I will not be able to allow anyone to test ride this bike under any circumstances. If you are local and want to come see it I would be happy to show it to you. I’ll even ride it up and down the street so you can see how well it runs and shifts. So, I contacted Bob's BMW today and ordered the parts (1 bracket, 2 red reflectors, 2 washers, 2 nuts); they should arrive this Friday well before the ad closes out. I will, of course, include these parts in the deal; I'll even install them if the buyer wishes. Thanks. On Jul-28-11 at 18:08:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Proper license plate bracket with reflectors received today from Bob's BMW. They will be included with the bike.
