I quit... You win! This is a beautiful 1976 3.0SI that I bought about two years ago. I have worked on it off and on since then and have had good success until recently. The car starts and runs great ---UNTIL ----- it warms up, at which time it starts to sputter and miss. Very frustrating! I'm sure it has something to do with the fuel injection system but I'm not very well versed in the earlier BMW K Jet system. Someone with experience in the system will probably be able to dial it right in. Other than that maddening habit, its a beautiful car. The car did not run when I bought it and I have solved those issues. I removed the "thermal-reactors" (headers) that cause so many of these cars to overheat and warp or crack their heads and replaced them with a previous years ones. It does have a newer head (an '86 I believe) so the PO addressed that issue before I bought it. I de-smogged the car and ran all new vacuum lines. I converted it to electronic ignition so no more points. I've replaced many relays and sensors as I went along. I installed a new alternator, fuel pump, air flow meter and other parts as well. I have receipts for all the parts and they will come with the car. I sent the original radio out and had it refurbished and even had an auxiliary port installed so you can plug in an MP3 player if you want. The PO had removed the AC compressor but I have it. I also have all the stuff I took off when I de-smogged it so you could put it back to original if you wanted (why you would want to is beyond me). The exterior still has the original paint. There are the beginnings of some surface rust spots that will need to be addressed. My plan was to have the car repainted but I never got that far. The interior is so gaudy its beautiful! With the leather and velour seats and wood grain accents, it really is unique. It is in good shape with the exception of a tear in each seat front (under your legs) and a chipped piece of veneer on the ashtray. I've tried to show those ares in the pictures. The molding on the passenger side rear fender is loose and so is the passenger side mirror. I didn't address these items because they would have to come off anyway if I had the car painted. So there you have it. My wife and I are getting ready to move and I don't need another project hanging around. It really is a special car and once the injection problem is ironed out it will be a ton of fun. I'm not looking to retire on the sale, but would like to get at least half of what I have in it. The car is located in Rancocas, NJ and will need to be transported due to the injection issue. I have the clear title in hand and I believe the mileage to be true.Email me with any questions. Thanks for looking.
